@@emmanuelstokes9615 I agree. Let's also not forget about the rule changes that favored offenses. The same style of defense that made the Steelers dominant in the 2000's just couldn't be sustained in the 2010's. Same thing happened to the Ravens. I miss the era of football where games would be 13 to 7 as the final score
I have had players from The Dolphins, Bills, Steelers and Jets tell me that the field at that stadium was among the worst they ever played on. Especially when it was humid
Watching this makes me miss football when the players played the game instead of the refs. That whole team put in WORK. James Farrior was a beast too and man did we need Boswell back then.
What an odd circumstance for Big Ben's 1st start. Mother nature thrust him into prometime and he performed well enough. I kinda miss the old formula for success of the early years of Big Ben when they ran the ball more. I forgot that Duce Staley was on the Steelers that year. Looking it up this seemed like his last productive season as he was on the way to the end of a pretty productive career.
Dan Marino fkd up, thus ended up stuck in Miami instead of a possibility for Pittsburgh. That would’ve been awesome because IDK Dan was from here until the past 10 years (college was down the street from his HS. Just stay on the bus😄) that his choices derailed his whole career (F the numbers. He knew Pittsburgh doesn’t play that sh.t & accepted his fate)💯
@@davidhoj Don't forget Ben is the worse SB QB....Please check the stats before making these comments.Ben has the worse QBR RATING IN SB HISTORY IN 2005,BEN THREW 1 TDS 2009 THE HOLMES TD,AND HE GAVE THE PACKERS THE OTHER ONE!!!Do research my friend
Pittsburgh was great under Chuck Noll….Pittsburgh was really good under Bill Cowher…..Pittsburgh has been mediocre at best under Mike Tomlin. You are only as good as your drafted players.
@@mariosnum1fan I disagree with the original content, but he had a very pedestrian season in terms of numbers. He was asked to hand the ball off A LOT and he had an absolute stellar defense that year. He did not hold them back, but he landed in a situation where that team already had the talent to win.
@@mariosnum1fan Two things can be true at once; we can both say the 04 Steelers and the 08 Steelers had a stellar defense. The performance of one defense does not take away the performance of the other defense. I guess I will clarify my other comment to you: He had a good season for a rookie. His team did help carry him, but he did more than you could expect from any rookie. It's almost impossible to go 15-1 with a bad QB. I would maybe not go as far to say that he 'balled out', but for being a rookie he was good. I guess I was thinking about it from a standpoint of comparing him to a phenomenal Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers season. Given what the circumstances were, he had a great rookie season.
My older sister worked at a Fox affiliate with Gus Johnson was getting his start as the weekend sports anchor. Gus is one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet.
@@Fireyninjadog i guess so, but I think that he brings a certain attitude that adds energy to big plays, like the way a Home team college announcer reacts when the home team does something amazing
I think Gus Johnsons commentary fits a basketball game better. Basketball fans want football to be like basketball so bad with the stats and the acrobatic plays, but football is all about intangibles and physicality With football you want the robotic pronounce everything properly cheesy commentary from Joe Buck, because ‘Merica
As a Chiefs fan, I can’t like this comment enough. I’ve been a fan since the mid 70’s & Mahomes is the 1st franchise QB they’ve had since Lenny Dawson in the late 60’s/early 70’s. Enjoy every start!
Pro Player Stadium: “Man, we got some torrid football conditions for the Dolphins and Steelers.” Heinz Field: “Hold my Pepsi!” Heinz Field with the same two teams two years later on MNF...
@@killalltogepis9916 Lmao Eli had the better career by a mile!!!Unlike Ben Eli did more with less and no one Eli played with on offense is going into the HOF.People create their own narratives but I've watched Eli's whole catalog and career so to me he was better than Ben
@@charlesbuckley5615 wrong dude. The team was drastically different once Ben started. He was responsible for many of those wins despite what his stats were.
The only thing better would be a video of his (maybe) first rape of a drunk young girl in a club while his off duty police officer "security team" kept her friends from intervening.
This team is similar to the team we have now. A great defense but a pedestrian offense. It's crazy the amount of noise fans are generating about the current product.
