Hello. Group tours are fun. :) Nice ride! Texas-Mexico. The landscape is always unique. It is a scenery that cannot be seen in Japan. Comfortable road. A snack you brought with you during breaks? And drinks? it's good. : D Your footage is always beautiful and captures the natural landscape! Especially the time-lapse shooting of the starry sky is wonderful! Safety and health. Thank you my friend.

This is mad. My house backs on to a train line and trains come past every half an hour or so. At the exact moment the train went by near the start of your video, the sound of it was drowned out by a train going past my house! Mate. That road surface sounds amazing compared to the weather ravaged roads around here. It looks like a brilliant ride down there, I love the desert landscapes, especially with a snake like oasis winding its way through the middle of it. It's always great to get out into the small rural communities and remote areas to slow life down a little and just be. Another great video my friend!
@TimKreitzAdventures
@TimKreitzAdventures 2 года назад
Thank you kindly, my friend. I love those desert landscapes as well. The people in those remote border towns tend to move there to not be found or bothered, but we've always had good luck chatting them up and being warmly received. Cheers!

Tell you what Tim - that road looked VERY tempting to me - busted surface, tar snakes, gravel piles, hell I'd be right at home on my "Adventure" bike... but what you were saying about the remoteness is exactly why I rarely do that type of ride alone, and if I do, it is with the most risk-aversive approach. Amazing looking country and you did it great credit with your footage and stills as always mate.

So cool Tim! My son and I just returned from that exact ride but we approached it from the Study Butte end. It looks like we might have been there within days of your trip. One enhancement we did this time was to take the Pinto Canyon Rd from the Rio Grand up to Marfa. It was stunning in a different way….highly recommended but you’d want to swap your FZ07 for something a bit more adventury. 😉 Anyway, you filming, photography and commentary captured it all so beautifully! I took a few pictures but didn’t come close to capturing the rugged beauty of the area like you did. Thanks for sharing!

Man! Texas is getting pretty trendy. Spa's and B&B's in Marfa. Designer Disneyland in Waco. No wonder all those left coast folks are showing up. I have wanted to do a border run along the fence from Yuma to Nogales. A friend who knows has warned me of the "heath implications" of that ride. This looks like a lot more fun.
@TimKreitzAdventures
@TimKreitzAdventures 2 года назад
I've heard the exact same thing about certain areas of the Texas border. It's crazy times right now. Still, we had a good time and I'm thinking of going back in the autumn to ride the River Road in the opposite direction from Presidio down to Study Butte, etc. We'll see. Fingers crossed. :-)

Beautiful ending shot! Those damned tar snakes can be nasty in that heat, I very nearly got bit by one in WV a couple days ago with temps in the high 80's, caught a piece of one on a downhill left coming off a ridgeline (corner had about a half-dozen snakes across it), got the front end loose a moment, recovered and had less than a foot of pavement left when I made the turn, excitement I did not need! Oh, and thanks for the tip on that Safe Start kit, just put one in before the trip since I was about to change the oil anyway (cheap insurance), a bit tricky getting that idler gear out and especially back in and getting it lined up. If you have yet to do yours, it helps to put the bike in gear so you can turn the rear wheel to help line it up.
@TimKreitzAdventures
@TimKreitzAdventures 2 года назад
I'm glad that worked out for you. Just curious; what condition was your idler gear boss in? Any cracks or fatigue?
@triumphrider9796
@triumphrider9796 2 года назад
No damage at all, thankfully ('02 T100, 36,000 miles). Like I said, cheap insurance, especially when you do your own installation and don't pay a labor charge! Definitely a bit tricky lining it up to get the shaft back in though, took a few minutes of fiddling.

Sir, nice video. I always like riding the "Texas State Park" river road(170), which appeared to be what you were on. Lot of ups/downs/sharp corners. I try to go every winter. Very interesting part of the state. The "Big Bend National Park" river road is 100% dirt, and about 30 miles south of where you were. The bikes yall' were on would struggle on that road. It's a much tougher ride. I just mention this so someone doesn't watch the video, and then attempt to ride the "National Park" river road with the wrong bikes! They would regret it. I've seen many a dual sport bike struggle on that dirt. Once again....great ride!

Your title needs to be changed to accurately reflect the road you were driving on (FM-170). It is not the BBNP River Road, but a scenic highway route bordering the Rio Grande. The BBNP River Road is a 100% dirt road within the national park boundaries that is much more remote and more challenging, but still easily ridden with an adventure bike. The FM-170 is certainly scenic, but viewers should know that the actual River Road is not a paved thoroughfare as the FM-170 is, and does require a more off road oriented bike to traverse.
@TimKreitzAdventures
@TimKreitzAdventures 9 месяцев назад
The algorithm would have nothing to do with this video until I put 'Big Bend National Park' and 'River Road' in the title. To street bikers, 'River Road' means 170.
