Very nice box ... And you're right about the kids liking the product, my kids enjoy ripping this. Especially 21-22, seeing its right around $50/box. #DRYDEN
Auto, Flower, Gretzky, Bedard, what a box! I definitely like the true base set with clear acetate a lot more than the red parallels. Appreciate the rips a lot. #Dryden
The red do get monotonous. Circa 17/18 and 18/19 they also had blue and green parallels. But, now they ratio the reds as rarer SPs. If only we could be party to UD’s decision-making. I’m sure there is some intense Simpsons comic book store owner rationalization going on.
Wow, the goalie cards really showed up strong in this one. This being said, brown goalie gear should really come back as a trend. On a semi-related note, I went to a park a few days ago and experienced my first shot at being a soccer goalie. Two Bosnians (father and son) practicing towards an empty net. I've offered myself to the task (of course I wasn't dressed for sport). TLDR, 30 minutes in dressed suit following two guys passing each other the ball without interruption can be exhausting. And I play between 2.5/3-hour sessions of tennis under the sun most of the time.
Makes perfect sense, Cats. There are dozens and dozens of hobby box options, for all budgets, ages, and intentions. Synergy isn’t a substitute for SPA, just like SP retail and MVP aren’t substitutes for The Cup. The benefit of expanding choice is those who cannot drop (presently) US $500 on SPA can still partake in the hobby and hit a Bedard rookie insert. In 2005-06 I didn’t want to break the bank for a Crosby RC. I’d rather buy a TV. I was able to scoop up Fleer, Parkhurst, and even McDonalds. If you are just looking for oddball RCs, the lower end and experimental options were great. Besides, if you care about “value,” the stock market outperforms cards. With capital gains, you can target high-end RCs on eBay with 100% odds, as well as high-end boxes. I’m really bad at herding into generic/bland products rooted in group-think or secondary market value. I’m often just looking for whimsy, and growth in how I view cards. But to each their own. I get why the mainstays are mainstays.
