I cut this part for time but getting around this cab's interface is an awkward combo of the Start buttons, pump action and trigger. Kinda a bummer but pretty minor. If you're ordering I recommend Walmart right now at the $450 price point: goto.walmart.com/c/1878820/565706/9383?veh=aff&sourceid=imp_000011112222333344&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.walmart.com%2Fip%2FBig-Buck-Hunter-w-Riser-and-2-Light-Gun-Rifles-Arcade1Up%2F625827228
I was able to get Best Buy to price match yesterday morning and I got $108 back! Just in the nick of time! I hate the world artwork too so being able to get the pro at $450 was very satisfying.
This is yet example # 346 not to preorder from 1up. It's $100 cheaper at walmart and everyone who preordered from best buy can't even get their units.... Did we even know this was coming to walmart? 1up strikes again
I ordered from Best Buy Tuesday. I already have a tracking number. Should be here on Wednesday. I think the Walmart price was incorrect. It only lasted ~24hrs, as it's now at $500.
On the fence as well. I think that I'll wait for a wave 2 version that will hopefully have a bigger monitor. The height of the riser is an easy fix too but the monitor size is a deal breaker.
@@SoulforSale Yup Game Stop Pre- Order Took Forever but I finally got it Monday... Been modding it every day...lol.. Put it on a half riser and it's Perfect, Im 6'3 .. Very Comfy wit cpu chair....!!!
@@SoulforSale yeah Game Stop Pre-Order Took Forever , But Finally Got it ... Put it on a half riser cpu chair mounted and it's amazing... Just downloaded Rad Rally .. Lots of fun... And Modding..!!
Grab a "Mainstays Parsons Square end table" from Walmart or Amazon for around $20 The table top is about 2" tall and the arcade1up risers sit in its footprint almost perfectly. I do it to all my a1up cabinets and the extra couple inches in height helps big time. I actually use small L brackets and screw the table top on floor into the riser for extra security
Got my Big Buck World and I can say I am quite pleased with it. For their first shooting game I think they did a great job and I would say it'll help with the next wave of light gun games.
How’s the set up? Does it plug into the small screen through hdmi? I’m not really interested in the box. Just want to be able to connect it into my big screen in my garage lol.
I think Arcade1up needs to up their sound for these cabs. All cabs honestly. Not bad but I agree bass is sorely needed. The upcoming KI cab demands bass.
I just ordered yesterday the Big Buck Hunter Pro as Buck Hunter World was out of stock on 1up's site last night. Little did i know Wallmart came out overnight with $449. Killed my day spending realistically here in NYC from Best Buy for $549+ Tax coming just about to $600 :( . Regardless i want the cabinet but they shipped today and can't cancel and re-order from Wallmart. Besides that gripe i like the look of both cabs graphics and originality to the full scale arcades i used to play in the bar days. I would only wished 2 things maybe 3. One, the marquee should be lit to match rest 1up's. Two, Online play would have been a great option. Third but most important , a larger screen. Other then all that you are my favorite reviewer on RU-vid out of all them and always look forward to your videos!!!! Much love brother!!!!!
Nice video! I really like Big Buck Hunter, played it at the Cedar Point arcade not that long ago. With this Arcade1up version I wanted to see reviews before pulling the trigger. Get it? LOL Wish that they could have pulled off a better light up marquee. Good looking cab.
John D. had mentioned on the 1up show earlier this week that they are working on a cab for release this year with a 19 or 20 inch screen. I really hope that is the Area 51 / House of the Dead cab that we are all hoping for. Looking at the 1UP cabs that I own there is no way I would be happy with the 17 inch screen for House of the Dead. That diminutive screen size just would kill the immersion.
I know I don’t need this cabinet. I know I need to save room for what’s coming but I keep watching people’s reviews and it looks like fun. Good catch on the Marquee. I assumed it was issues with light and the gun but that pretty much confirms it.
That's always the challenge! Waiting for new cabs vs giving up space now but I always fall back on the fairy high resale value of these if they need to be swapped out
Yet another helpful, in depth review man. I was initially excited about this cab. I've been on the fence about it for the past month. After watching your review, I'm gonna pass.
Guest appearance by Todd Tuckey is awesome. I really appreciate your videos. Sadly, they’ve convinced me that the arcade 1up form factor isn’t for me. Games like this (and Outrun!) need to be played big. Now looking into building something that doesn’t have an authentic arcade look, but allows for a big screen and big speaker sound.
When these come out in Australia they'll be $1399 AUD ($1090 USD). As beautiful as the cabinet looks, I can't imagine paying that much for a game I can't see myself playing much, but I think it's a great direction for Arcade1Up, just get some 19" monitors into those things.
From another Aussie- the big buck price is particularly absurd when other $500usd cabs are going for around the $999 AUD - looks like an opportunistic price gouge, I fear other cabs like outrun will be similarly absurdly priced...
*Bleeping* Walmart. I was waiting for the review and did not jump on the $450 when I saw it. Not the first time they've played around with the prices on these things. Remember Star Wars sit down?
Cool Video you did a extremely good job 👍 showing off this cab! It’s just like the Star Wars to me -,LOOKS BEAUTIFUL LOOKS AWESOME 🤩 BUT - I just wouldn’t play it..... I’ll be waiting patiently for 2022 House of the Dead 💀 or Virtual Cop 👮♂️ or a regular Double Shooter 👍 Out of all the New cabs revealed- Not impressed waiting for Daytona USA 🇺🇸 Racer, waiting for Simpsons 4-player... I was shocked 😳 they did not come out with Simpsons?? It’s been talked about now for 2-YEARS??? Anyways I’ll be waiting for Better Shooter and more Racing Cabs! That’s all my game room can hold
Is the speaker connection a 3.5mm hook up or is hard wired ti control panel like wave 1 cabs? Asking because i want to connect speakers to a subwoofer.
I just got my Big Buck hunter cab today. It's great! I'm with your girlfriend in thinking this is (along with my two 1up pinball cabs) my favorite cab to date. While yes, the screen could be bigger, its still a lot of fun. I sit rather close anyway, but I may put in a bigger screen in one day. I didn't think I would too much enjoy shooting defenseless deer and whatnot but hey, I guess I'm more ruthless than I thought because I've have a gas shooting em all! LOL. One interesting thing I noticed though about the lack of a lightup marquee. At the top of the pcb board there is an output marked with a lightbulb. I assume that is for some type of light up marquee? Its 1up going to eventually make a lightup marquee for this cab you think? Are there any 3rd party light up marquees for this unit? Oh another thing. I think the graphics are the clearest one I've seen on 1up's cabs to date.
That is indeed a power source on the PCB for a marquee. Hopefully someone makes a third party solution that uses it (I want my marquee to auto turn on when I turn that cab on my dude)
Mine came today. Yeh my only complaint is the height and I’m only 5’8”. I’m going to have to build a second riser to put underneath the existing riser. I don’t understand how this company still overlooks these things a couple years later
True , Got Out Run. I'm 6'3 put it on a half riser , took off the front plate and put it on the bottom with pedals inside..it's perfect eye level.. and comfy wit cpu chair.!!!
You have the perfect set of bar room arcade1up cabinets. Is that a black edition cocktail in the lower right of the pool room shots? The Ms. PacMan cocktail looks great too! Thanks for the review!
Great review UC. Thanks for speaking on the height. I knew it was going to be to short. Boggles the mind as to why they didn’t use a taller riser. Oh well.
Unqualified Critics, Dude, your reviews are so entertaining :) The monitor size was the major reason I held off until I could see some reviews. I remember playing House of the Dead II on my Dreamcast on a 35 inch CRT RCA TV, and that was ideal for me. Now I don't think Arcade1up will ever go that big, but I do agree with you, 20 inches at least, PLEASE! I still want Buck Hunter, but I'm going to hold off until they release (or if they release) a version with a bigger monitor. I have no problem with Arcade1up using 17 inch monitors on their standard cabs (i.e. Star Wars, or Marvel Super Heroes), but I don't feel 17 inches translates an "Arcade Experience" when it comes to most lightgun games (well maybe except for Duck Hunt or Hogan's Alley). I hope Arcade1up takes your feedback to heart (and mine if they read your comment section). Thanks as always for your reviews! vgv
Great review - I have been so tempted to grab this but the screen size kills it for me! To bad - I will hold off for now and hope they release an upgraded version down the road or another light gun game with a bigger screen.
Good review. I didn't expect height to be an issue but it makes absolute sense. Odd Arcade1up did not pick up on this in testing. The screen though is a no brainer. I'd like a light gun game in the future but the SW pinball might be my last purchase due to space (edit) my kids love these A1U too but they really need to design these for grown men. The Outrun cab looks ridiculous with an adult in it
I see that your guns have that pretty bad squeak too. It made it almost unplayable for me with how bad and how frequent it was. I unscrewed the screws where the pump is and put some electrical tape where the pump mechanism moves. This helped tremendously. My trigger still squeaks so I’m hoping to fix that too. Overall I think they killed it with this cab, it’s my new favorite. If they offered a larger monitor as an upgrade, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it.
calibration tells me that this is not a light gun..it's being read by a camera somewhere and that means you'll have to stand EXACTLY where you stood when calibrating it..no? We need the real feel fo the real game....a real light gun and a crt.
If they sold light gun pistols, and sold area 51, and house of the dead in this cab this game would be a homerun at $800. I'm gonna try adding 3" casters to the bottom of some games to deal with the height problem
Great review 👍. Would you mind sharing the size of your room please. It looks great and exactly what I am planning. I dont know if I have enough space for 1ups around walls with pool table in middle. Sorry for weird question 😊
David /UC Thanks (as always) for the great and informative content. Until A1UP halted the FREE SHIPPING promotion less than 24hours after receiving the email notification (and yes, they wouldn't honor my request based on my reason), I ultimately decided I would not purchase a Big Buck Hunter World cabinet from them. I am happy that I did for the following reasons: - No Light-up and/or textured Marquee: I understand the technology limitations WRT to the illumination, but it should have been textured at the very least. - Monitor size: As for my aforementioned "Frankencabinet" in previous posts (which sports a 31" display and play both Big Buck Hunter: Call Of The Wild and Big Buck Hunter II), I can only imagine how cramped a
Thanks for the honest review. Too bad Arcade 1Up didn't go the extra mile to do a bigger screen on this. Maybe they'll do a deluxe version in the future.
Great video. I am glad this is the first light gun cabinet because you know the next ones will be even better. Hopefully Time Crisis or House of the Dead will be the next light gun cabinet. Glad I was able to order the 450.00 edition from Walmart this morning. Think that this is the perfect price point for this cabinet.
After watching a review about the game, mine came and I came up with a solution for that, I purchased foam for cushions at Walmart , used enough to come up to the cabinet cross rail and stapled it to the cross rail. I feel it’s a simple solution for the guns hitting the cabinet floor and possibly hurting the cameras on the guns.
Very nice and in-depth review. I’ve thought about buying one and modding it with a $50 HDMI motherboard to run on a bigger screen and apparently it works like a charm, which would be awesome. My main concern is the guns, as I play competitively so I’m glad to hear they at least don’t feel like they’ll fall apart on the first go around lol
I have had mines since Tuesday . Worked great till tonight. Just crashed and now I have crazy lag. Watching ur video and can say it might be the heat From that pcb. Great job on the video .
I've heard of similar with Out Run, which would have the same heat issue. No idea how common the issue is though. How many hours would you guess you played?
@@UnqualifiedCritics Maybe 3 hours about so an hour a night. I’ve been just all over the internet trying to see if it’s just me. Sounds like the lag and framerate issues are common but haven’t seen anything about a hard crash or reset . I reset my machine 3 times and waited between turning on to see if maybe it needed to cool down and that lag is still there. It’s so strange.
I finally decided to buy this cab. One thing you didnt mention is that the Big Buck Pro version sold at Best Buy includes a Big Buck Pro tin sign that is 18 by 24 inches. Probably not worth the $100 higher price tag than the Walmart version though.
I feel almost the same as you on this cab. I wish the screen was bigger for sure but I don’t really mind once playing. The guns are light and gotta make sure your gentle using them over time. I’m short (5’8”) so the height is ok for me. The interface is sometimes odd like when I’m done with a trek it just wants me to go to another trek and I can’t figure out the best way to get back to the main menu lol. The having to hit both buttons to calibrate is sometimes awkward. Thanks for the tip on standing straight on even in 2 player. That explains why I was having trouble playing with my girlfriend when we stood a little off to the side. Overall it’s very fun and has easily became my favorite cab there are so many game modes since you have so many animals you can Hunt in each game and the mini games too.
You can stand off to the side fine just make sure you're straight on when calibrating. The interface is extremely whacky, I wanted to spend time on that but I wasn't sure how to explain it being so weird without sounding ultra nitpicky lol. but it is terrible
@@UnqualifiedCritics it sure is. I hit the green button nothing happens on one screen but another screen it works. Other screens it’s like pump or shoot to skip. It is confusing.
@@UnqualifiedCritics It was weird. just finished building it and played through one round, pressed both start buttons to better calibrate the guns, then when i exited out it returned me to the start screen and the sound went dead and the start buttons wouldnt work. gun triggers still switch the screen but cant start. Unplugged and replugged all the cords that their tech support suggested. Confused why sound and buttons stopped functioning at the same time with anything changing
@@UnqualifiedCritics yea i just bought it & found out how vto calibrate it but the left gun is still shooting off. I got the right gun to shoot perfectly but the left is still shooting around close to 11 o clock
@@UnqualifiedCritics I read about the color after I made the comment. Apparently, tan and camel are becoming popular bc they create less eye strain and brighten the room. So, comment withdrawn. Nice table.
I have to ask, did you ever play this game in an arcade? This was a great job with the Sonden guns as cheap as they are. If you've played it you would know this is as close as it gets.
yes but years ago, I mentioned in the review that I don't have good memory of original hardware so I'm not comparing, so I simply listed the experience of the guns on their own
@@UnqualifiedCritics LOL. His wife is apparently the one responding to the comments. I almost had to take a cold shower after reading her response to what she thought about Outrun's shifter!
