A really great night's fishing. There's no need to preboil the cuttlefish, if you only fry it for about two minutes it'll be perfectly tender. Don't fry it any longer or it'll go tough. Keep the videos coming, I look forward to them.
Add green onion, cilantro and orange marmalade jam to that thai chili sauce, maybe a Thai chili in it too with little minced garlic. That's what we used in resturant I worked at if I'm correct, it was the cilantro that made it though. So good with the squid, we would also flour and fry thinly sliced jalapeños and lemons
That was a great session for you and Cal. You should paint the inside of your bucket different colours to see if the cuttlefish copy the colours. The wife says to try rice flour, says it’s lighter and makes a great crunch👍🇨🇦
Great stuff as always. I highly recommend cuttlefish/octopus stew using onion, red wine, tomato and red sweet pepper. Cephalapods are so much more than restaurant calamari but that's great too.
@@matty6848 I fried off the onions in a big pan, then the squid/octopus or cuttlefish for a while then adding the remaining ingredients. It would work well in a slow cooker or multi cooker after searing the onions and squid. I don't have a written recipe. I found that octopus or cuttlefish gives the best flavour. Hope you enjoy.
A restaurant I worked at cut the flour with rice flour, 50/50, gives a great texture when fried, worth giving it a go! Never tried boiling it first (I've only done squid), would that work with squid also? Might have to try it next time.
Good morning! How does that reel knob feel with cephalopod ink and such?..I has to swap out to the black knob on my slammer....to me the shiny knob feels slimy therefore slippery even when just wet with water from my hands! Just me
It's good to see you and Cal enjoying yourselves catching the squid and cuttlefish. Great effort. But I have to say, they are the ugliest creatures I have ever seen. If you find that they are delicious, that's all that matters. Be well!
WTH. I didn't get notified. Hope I'm The only one. Hello Sunshine, Awesome to go out on a fishing trip with you. It's always smashing really. Smiles all the way. Please stay safe everyone
This my absolute favourite season and you always catch the awesome aliens.. this calls for a celophlopd aquarium lol! Watching this making baby squid calamari, got a kilo for a fiver from the local fish monger. Epiiic video mate, really enjoyed it!
I just started the video but I'm chuckling cause the title says "BIG CEPHALOPODS" and the first catch is a 4in squid. Click bait anyone? (it's a joke btw, I know it's not click bait and you don't do that, but I still giggled) One of these days, I will try Orma. Great vid as always Jay! (tell the people on your website to get larger sizes x.x)
any of your jigs glow in the dark? im sure squid would be attracted to the light. anything glow in the dark...shine a bright light on it to make it glow more.
SMASH! I remember you doing a vid on a boom you made out of twisting the mainline if that makes sense, I think it was a vid with wrasse in? You twisted up the line and made boom? Anyone know?
