A lot of these custom maps seem to be made with torturing the player in mind, so it's nice to see someone actually handling them.

The original maps got so easy I was torturing myself to make them interesting haha. These new maps do seem to be made with experienced players in mind.

@@GamerZakh I just hope they don't have something mean like "on year 100, you'll get attacked on the other side of the river for the very first time with a huge army. I'm a fan of maps that make it pretty clear where you're getting attacked from.

Yeah the Augustus Devs took ideas from later games and added them to Caesar 3. Hedges and residential walls were added, they even have residential gates if they go over roads.

Yeah generally I tend to not really try too hard unless it's required haha. These new maps and Augustus mechanics means I can't slack as much.

i suppose you could run a road further down to the river, from the palace loop. going from the gladiator school above the farms, continue through the stone crossing step thiniges all the way to the river, you could get fish from there, use the vegetable warehouse for getting fish instead, get fish for the tavern & use that as a 3rd food source so u can stop importing vegetables because a) its cheaper, b) the caravans will be able to buy weapons much more efficiently. maybe you could even set up a dock in that area of the river and import the olives there, produce oil there so that the walk for the cartpusher getting oil would be significantly shorter?

In case you have noticed for fish, and potential sea trading to the newers housing blocks there seems to be a path over the mountains, via stairs in the cliffs to the coast on that side, not sure how much usable coast there is though tbf

@@Lebastian I haven't done an interview but their base of operations is on our discord, so there's a lot of chat there. Not sure if any of them want to be interviewed haha, usually that's more linked to marketing or legacy, and they aren't marketing Augustus and it hasn't been long enough to be a clear legacy.

In Augustus, are invasions still limited to a predefined amount still? I remember in the map maker you could only script in so many and I always wished there was just a button to allow for either increasing scale of attack or a regular attack that happens every X years going on indefinetly. Always seemed strange that after you get through those attacks, you'd never see anything ever again and all your walls and forts became useless.

No but large statues have animated water if they're in range of a resovoir.

It's a new Augustus feature. I don't know how to do it myself but there is a guide and you can ask the devs directly on our Discord server for help.

@@GamerZakh I started a campaign in Augustus just a few days ago. Yes! I saw Levie's, but I prefer strong commerce instead of great prosperity and high taxes. The taxes are just a support for not getting a debt with Caesar for granteed. I'm from a country with high taxes and don't work as expected. My comment was because I saw you waiting too long to start charging.

I love Augustus roadblocks but Market ladies (and only them) just ignore them. Any idea why? Is it a glitch?

Market ladies don't ignore them, destination workers ignore them. A market lady going to a granary will walk through roadblocks but the market lady distributing to houses will not.
