I don't often do commercial campaigns, but I absolutely loved the concept of this vehicle, and wanted to get involved in testing it out. Definitely didn't see this coming when I got my driver's license just a short 4 years ago 😅 P.S. Let's just not tell Odyssey about this one 🤫
I don't mind you doing commercials, as long as we have your updates and YOU don't mind of doing them. VW is ok for me as I currently drive with VW Tiguan. 🙂
I love your channel and the adventures you share. Your perspective is refreshing. I’ve gotta say, I love that you’re in my hometown. I recognized it immediately and oddly enough, when you entered Allens Boots, I could smell the store. It’s amazing how sight (or a memory) can trigger the sense of smell as if you are in that exact location. I hope my hometown treated you well. God Bless Texas!
Her adventure is mostly going to be about her rust bucket car breaking down one too many times and Eva uttering some deep thoughts about challenges in life from a fortune cookie. An unreliable car and she has more stuff packed into it than the Donner Party. Some guys at a Mexican port are going to have a good time stealing her stuff because she is shipping her car using RORO shipping which is a terrible idea.
Couldn't agree more about eating out in Nature. In Australia we often refer to being out in the bush (camping) as "staying at the Million Star Hotel". There is something very grounding and peaceful about it. It brings joy to my heart.
Welcome to America!, I remember seeing on youtube how many bloggers help other bloggers to give them advice, tours, and help to make your trips in Mexico, United States. It could be great to be in touch with them to help you find the right places to explore and be safe.
You're right next door! I'm in New Mexico. And I'm excited to have you covering the Americas. Of course, the problem with Texas (from a camping perspective) is that there is very little public land. Something like 95% of the state is privately owned. Go just a bit further west, especially the Rocky Mountain states, and it's better.
As an American it's so funny to me when a European is like "wow! this place is so cool!" and it's something that I'd consider not that great because I could drive there in like 8 hours from where I am, so it doesn't feel like an exciting destination. But maybe that's how yall feel when us Americans are like "wow, the ALPS 😍" Time to reconsider the places that are practically in my back yard and get out and enjoy them!
This is so true. I think it'll always depend on the various countries and cultures. It's what makes traveling the world so much fun. Even for me in Africa some things I take for granted others consider once in a lifetime experiences and likewise when I travel I'm like a little kid seeing everything especially natural landmarks and the locals probably look at me like I'm bugging coz they're used to it and experience it every other day 😂
@Bryan Robb to me, everywhere west of the Mississippi, is West. And I wouldn't call California "Western US". Nor Oregon, or Washington, even though, technically, that's as far west as you can go in the continental US. Even films; Western movies do not take place on the west coast. Basically, I'm not sure what your point is.
I’m French but I live in Texas (Houston area) for 10 years! I was not expecting to see you there! Welcome! I just came back from a wonderful trip to a ranch in the Texan countryside. One of the best experience I have lived so far. Hope you will have the opportunity to go to a ranch and see our beautiful longhorns 😊. Cheers.
@@evazubeck Can imagine you Eva doing the great American adventures before proceeding to central America. That will take you a good 2 years of travelling. Thank you for bringing us on the ride with you.
I remember liking the concept of this a couple years ago. My buddy told me the other day I'd probably buy one just for giggles if I was just looking for a new daily and didn't need it to be my tow rig also (can't be without a tow rig).
And don’t just cruise through Sask! Get off the highway. Head north. We have 100,000 lakes and one of the lowest population densities in the world. Perfect for overland adventures
hi Eva i have followed you since the pandemic started,i am learning english and your stories have helped me a lot. by learning english i can get to know so many countrie and cultures. since i knew you were coming to Mexico i got exited.it would be awesome to meet you.once you are in mexico you have to visit oaxaca the most beautiful state of Mexico .
Welcome to Texas! I was so surprised. I figured I’d see you next in Mexico or South America. Honey, if I’d known you were coming I’d have baked you a cake! I hope you get to see the Hill Country and Big Bend and maybe Marfa while you are here. I love your vids and have been following you for a while.
You being in Austin, Tx. Was completely unexpected. I live 144 km south of Austin in San Antonio. Have realized just big Texas is yet? It’s 1421 km across and over 1600 km North to south. San Antonio to Dallas is about 4.5 hrs. San Antonio to El Paso is about 9 hrs. Austin to Houston is about 3 hrs. and you’re still in Texas. That’s driving 120-130 kph. It’s really big. Texas was its own republic, country, before it was a state. Drive safe and have fun. 🇺🇸
I used to travel to Dallas once a year for business, came home with a new pair of boots every year. 😂 (And I lived in NY so I never wore them once I was back home...😆)
Hi, thank You for this video. But I don't get isn't there should be another video between this and the previous one, showing how You got to USA? one moment shipping truck, and next moment You are on different continent.
Glad you had a great time in and around my hometown of Austin. It sure has changed a lot in the last 10 - 15 years, and not for the better. Out in nature outside the city is a good call. Safe travels.
Howdy there Eva zu Beck sure wish you'd trek through North East Texas up around Tyler Longview area. There's all sorts of great places to see and do here. This is where I am from with my family. You ever do we can show you some great things and hidden gems. Plus my daughter Brooke is your No. 1 fan. Thanks for all the good you do. We all love your videos and all you do and great role model for my baby. Thanks you ma'am.
So Eva, I just watched your Texas trip out in nature via the new VW electric van and your preparation of a salad made of store bought vegetables and cheese. The one element that could create a more natural aesthetic would be in gathering a few wild plants for a foraged meal. So if you ever come to Maryland in the Washington, DC area I would love to show you a great variety of nature's own cornucopia of culinary delights. Of course it would have to be in late spring or summer when nature's bounty is in full expression.
Eva, Austin is great but if you spend time in the states you have to get to California, climb half dome, surf a wave in Santa Cruz, camp in Big Basin! Go girl!
@@HolgerJakobs Her surname is not German. Her surname is Zubek (polish surname), she just changes it to zu beck, probably because its easier to pronounce.
@@pawepiechocki1792 she said that when she was younger she was telling people she is half Chinese because she didn't want to say she was full polish since there are so many polish people in the UK, being polish was not unique.
@@Befree898 yes looks nice but where much electric is , much electric will fail - driving VW Bus for 30 years now (T3,T4,T5) love this car think is the best they make.
Omg! Welcome to Texas!! The boots really fit you well! You can wear boots anywhere with anything! If you ever find yourself in Dallas, I’d love to show you around! 🥰
When I was growing up a family friend had a VW camper - it was the key to many adventures. This looks like it could be a future version :-)! Not as cool as Odyssey though :-)!
The butterfly garden at Krause Springs is one of my fave spots.. wind chimes twice your size, beautiful flowers, fresh air, a bit of a whimsical feel. 💚
Ahhh, but Eva, your cowboy hat is too small for your head (the brim should be pretty much parallel to the ground and not more than about 1.5 to 2 inches above your eyebrows, in the middle of your forehead) - and NEVER wear the brim tipped back like that, or you'll scare the locals (or make them laugh really hard) 🤔 👀 Easy to fix though! Have an awesome trip 🍻🌵 TIP: To find your cowboy hat size, place the sizing tape or tape measure in the middle of your forehead so that it’s just above your ears. That's where you should be wearing the hat, to wear it properly - that will also tell you your hat size. (You might try readjusting they way you're wearing yours. They also stretch a bit.)
One of the original intentions of cowboy boots was to ward off rattlesnake bites, that, and avoid cactus spines. Even though I grew up in ranch country, I found them uncomfortable so, as soon as I could afford it I bought myself combat boots. More comfy and does the same work.
I left Austin over 20 years ago, but it's still one of my favorite cities. Berlin is my all time favorite, but that's another adventure! One of the most amazing places to go is the green belt which starts in Zilker park and runs through the city. I also loved going to Hamilton pool which is a waterfall over a cave and is right outside Austin. The caves in Georgetown are cool too. There is just so much to see and do. Hope you enjoyed your time there!
Hi Eva, I’m Ali from Uk, Well I’m following your channel from last 3 years and I always keep on eyes on your upcoming amazing videos as I enjoyed a lot to watch your videos but this video is bit different then other all of your videos as there is no intro as like how your other videos such like when you arrive in new places like the start of your journey.. It’s seems like a lot of details are missing on this video.. anyways stay safe and stay healthy 🙂
As a fellow lady overlander: If you (and of course Odyssey) ever make it to Indiana and/or Colorado, depending on the time of the year, you have a place to park, a bed to sleep in, and a pal to roll with. 😃
Awesome! Wonder when it's coming to the USA market. Would you turn this into a camper? Wonder if they'll have a pop top option like the original VW bus.
Yes, I would have guessed you would go for Euphoria :-) Cool project, but It would be even cooler to do a Van Build with it. Solar rooftop that can be folded out into much more surface area with an solar awning , induction cooking, the works......The forever Hippy Van, just follow the sun.
Love the car, however it looks a little low for off the road driving. Eva, did you see bluebonnets flowers, they are in bloom at this time in Texas & they look spectacular covering fields after fields.
So glad you decided to come to Texas. I moved here in 1984 after living in all four corners of the U.S. Decided this was the place to enjoy retirement. A very hearty "Welcome" to the Lone Star State. Hope you can stay a while.
I understand the premise of this video, but that felt very strange knowing that the Volkswagen guy was somewhere in the background just waiting for you to record your picnic. Perhaps he wasn't allowed to ´join you, but It would have felt much more you, if you'd invited him to share in your picnic.
Eva you are seriously the BEST INFLUENCER EVER! I love the VW bug! Long time fan of your channel, who appreciates your film artistry and wonderful personality and dedication to genuineness and adventure! All of us kind of live vicariously through your amazing adventures! ❤
@Scott Motley why would you be scared she obviously didn’t crash, then go home and post this video. But even if she had crashed she clearly is ok.🤨 Maybe she doesn’t realize what a Yield sign, since she is a foreigner.
@@never_ending_studiokkswani85-3 Idk, its kinda like watch a person climb a tall tower and take videos, gives you anxiety. But I was just pointing it out so she doesn't end up in a crash. Obviously that VW guy was probably to nice to say anything. But you could tell on his face he was hoping all went well. Lol
This brought back so many memories for me. My family had 2 of the orighonal Van's "bus". We had a green one first. My parents brought that one about 6 months before I was born in 1967. Then we got a red one in 1975 and kept it till 1985. When my brother and I were little we used to ride in the cargo aera above the engine. Great video. Thank you.
Really boring video. Or a commercial? I don’t know what the point of this video is or what are the big changes coming title is. This is what they call in the industry as “ Clickbait”
I was stationed in Ft. Hood in late 90’s and not too far from Austin. I spent a good part of my off days outdoors, fishing white and largemouth bass with my daughters. This video took me back to those days.
I drive a Chevy Bolt EV, and while I like driving an EV, I think that charging infrastructure, battery range and (thought I think this is getting better with newer EVs) charging speeds still need to improve significantly before an EV could make the kinds of road journeys covered on this channel. But the ID Buzz would be a perfect EV for someone living in the city or suburbs with easy access to overnight charging.
In large parts of Europe it would do absolutely fine and in other areas with good fast charging networks too. Charging speed and range are not an issue. You need breaks from driving anyway and with a modern vehicle like this you can easily cover 800 km in a day.
Do you think your green by consuming and buying an electric vehicle? There are so many factors that average person doesn't even think about. First it requires construction of a new factories to build these vehicles secondly, how is the electricity produced to charge theses vehicles if it's produced with fossil fuels why bother even convert. I could go on there's so many more points but I think it will fall on deaf ears.
@@iansmith6086 Costs? Direct and indirect costs of continuing with fossil fuels will be far higher. Dealing with batteries? You mean end of life? They will obviously be recycled.
I think you had the right feeling with the cowboy boots. A pair of mokassins will not only look better on you, but are also more aligned with your feelings for nature. Soft shoes help you to stay connected with the earth you are walking on
Be careful where you put your blanket down. If, you put it over a snake hole, you could invite undesirable company, which could be life-threatening. I learned that lesson when I was about 12 years old. My dad drew his 22 and told me NOT to move. I think I wee,d my pants. I stayed still, and my dad shot a 4 foot water moccasin, that was half on my blanket and half still in it's hole, that was the last time I ever laid on a blanket outside. Good luck, Eva.
@@iansmith6086 Why do you think I don´t get out and do stuff by myself??? You don´t know me. But as a woman travelling alone in the middle of nowhere can be risky and you need to overcome certain fears. I like the positive attitude Eva is spreading and showing to the world.... she does a lot of stuff by her own, which even some men wouldn´t do. If you don´t like Eva, stay out of her channel, and stop spreading negativity under each comment.
I was not expecting Texas when I clicked on your video. You always visit places nobody knows or that aren't common for your average traveler. That car is so neat.
A cool machine Eva! It’s futuristic yet reminds me of the VW vans of old in a way. I think it will be a seller. 👍. Always enjoy your positivity ! Cheers
Texas is great but seriously girl, you’ve got to come to Wyoming! Yellowstone and Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons! Cody and so many places to see. ☘️🙏
Finally you begin your journey to America. A free country for a free soul like yours. There's always something new vibes in your video and I can't wait for another. Best of luck out there
Eva! I hope you're doing well and are enjoying your barefoot adventures in México right now! Great to see another video. Glad you enjoyed your time in Texas! 😀
Texas is great. I prefer the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, so many things to see and do. And the thing about western boots, is that if you get the right pair for you, they're likely to be the most comfortable footwear you've ever had in your life. Once they're broken in, of course.
I’ve been a fan of your channel for quite some time but the thumbnails since hitting the 1 million subs mark went from what I feel is true Eva to straight up cringe. You don’t have to make the stupid faces other RU-vidrs do. Your videos have always stood out and can get a click without having to stoop to that level. It’s fake, and you Eva, are not fake.
@@zaneenaz4962 they’re only getting worse. So cringe. I suppose since I used to be subscribed they pop up in my feed bc of that. 🤷🏼♀️ her latest one makes me feel embarrassed for her. 😖
Wait, what, you're here in USA...in Texas?! Wow, didn't expect that at all! I was expecting another horseback riding, mountain climbing or hiking some unknown ruin. 😊 And so jealous that you've driven the new VW ID! Cheers Eva!
