Sounds like the new loctician knows what she is talking about. Some of your locs are weak due to being too small and your desire to stretch up to 10 weeks. Unless the loc is too small when your hair is formed into a loc the normal shedding makes the loc thickens up. Yes she should have pointed it out to you before popping but continuing to waiting too long between reties will only continue to cause more damage.

Thanks for your feedback! She has me on a strict 6 week schedule now so I no longer have the choice to stretch lol but she said again in our last retie that she feels they were installed too small so I think that’s the biggest issue.

Combine the locks sis, my locks in the top were super tiny and I lost around 15 locks. I'm so disappointed. Has to combine them

15 omgg that’s so rough! I’m sorry you went through that! How far along were you in the journey when you started losing them? I was considering seeing if I actually lose one first and then combining 😭 but that might not be wise lol

Girl that's soooo good. My retie takes almost 4 hours without a wash. It's $155 and I go every 4 weeks. I wash my hair the day before. I'm looking for a new loctician because my retie hurts. I believe she is heavy hand. She says that I'm really tender headed. I like my person she's still new only about 2 years in. Wish me luck.

Thank you!! I feel so relieved lol that’s a great price! Are you going to keep going every four weeks or do you think you’ll stretch it out? But I’m sorry it’s been hurting 😩 I wonder if it would still feel that way with another loctician?

Consult with a third before combining anything. Monitor your hair’s strength as it relates the smaller locs. I say that because I saw another video where the woman was advised to combine only to have two headed dragons placed in her head. She was told by another, that the locs didn’t need to be combined( but maybe the person did it to save time on reties. That also relates to the strict 6 week or nothing philosophy. More new growth, more time it takes to complete a retie. I’m monitoring the rate of growth I’m experiencing right now. I don’t want to experience traction alopecia due to getting a retie before having sufficient new growth (I’ve seen other ladies talk about this as well….sticking to a strict schedule; but your hair not really needing to be maintained at that point. So much to learn so you’ll know if you’re being guided properly.

I agree that there’s so much to learn and it definitely feels like different opinions flying everywhere so it gets confusing lol I hearrr you on the strict 6 week policy; that really does ignore the nuances and I’m sure could lead to issues from some. What are you finding so far with monitoring your growth rate? And I’ll definitely consult before making any moves!

Girl!! Yessss! I'm so excited for you! I remember how frustrated you were and that exact video. I have a 2-hour retie $125 in Colorado. I was gonna be sad if you got rid of your pretty locs. Once you become a regular, then she may let you after she sees how your hair will do during the longer period. Don't forget about those locs you already lost. You wanted to combine some of them anyway, so it may be a good thing. But she really has no business ripping your hair off. That's crazy! Good luck!

Thank you girl!! 🤎 omg that’s also such good speed and rate! Do you feel like your parts are super clean afterward or not? That’s the only difference I’m noticing so far from her doing it so fast.
@shionan
@shionan 23 дня назад
@@kahinamatata The parts are ok, but I do feel like she had combined a couple without telling me. And I don't like that. I feel like they should be communicating and not just doing stuff. One was in the back and I had her un-combine it because it wasn't consistent with the size of the rest around my perimeter. I just care about my perimeter in the front and back and my side and middle part so hopefully she got the point. LOL
@kahinamatata
@kahinamatata 21 день назад
That’s so wild that they do that. Someone else commented with a similar concern. Like it’s my head, let me make the choice 🤔 I wouldn’t like that either. I’m glad that you noticed the one in the back and got it corrected! And I get what you mean about the perimeter and main parts lol everything else gets pretty much hidden anyway lol

OMG 😳 that’s the problem I’m having right now 😩 I’m in California, it takes me 1 1/2 hour one way, 4 hours for the retie then 1 1/2 back home 😢
@kahinamatata

Oooo girl that’s a lot! Have you tried to find someone closer? Are there even options closer 😩
@yvettesmith4991
@yvettesmith4991 22 дня назад
@@kahinamatata yep! I am researching now for someone closer but I was told I needed to let the installer loctician follow my hair until it locks but she’s never able to keep me on schedule and I am very serious about my hair journey and very stressed because she doesn’t get back to me or answer my calls in a timely manner 😩 and I have Extension. My locs are 10 months old now.

@yvettesmith4991 oh no that’s so inconvenient! Who said you have to wait until it locks?? That was my initial plan too but alas, life lol

I switched my 3rd or 4th month. My new loctician was a trainee when I switched, but she’s literally down the street and her reties take about 2 hours. She doesn’t include a wash though, but I pay $125 every 6 - 8 weeks. I wash in advance, but my hair is dry by the time she starts so she winds up misting it anyway. I’ve considered trying a new loctician just to get see feedback about my current loctician because my current complains about mine being too small too. I’ve reluctantly let her combine a few but only because she convinced me they were weakening. I worry about her combining them without informing me, but my locks still look good and healthy so I’m trusting she’s doing what’s best.

Down the street and two hours 🙌🏾 that’s perfect!! And that’s a great price. How far along in working with her did you allow her to combine? I wonder what a new loctician would say as well; it’s honestly very confusing lol

Girl they always love to nit pick the other consultants work 🙄 if there’s no reason to combine them and you don’t want to, then don’t! Ripping out locs is also crazy… ehhh
@kahinamatata
@kahinamatata 21 день назад
I was definitelyyy expecting the nitpicking lol but you never know what level of you’re going to get. And thank you for that! I’m really leaning toward not combining them and just seeing what my hair does. I’ll go into damage control if it actually snaps lol and she made it seem soo normal to rip it like that so I guess she doesn’t look at it as crazy but 😬😭 what would you do? Lol
@tinikiadavis7971
@tinikiadavis7971 Месяц назад
I would be wondering if she is combining locs for speed purposes or truly for hair health. Also, I would be concerned that she is ripping my hair instead of taking scissors to it. I have had a few locs that have some thin spots because of postpartum shedding and I just don’t have the thickest hair. My location told me to leave them be and let my hair do what it naturally wants to do. They have began to feel in. I would be looking for another opinion.
@kahinamatata
@kahinamatata 22 дня назад
That’s a good point! She did mention that it’s only some locs at the top and I can see the difference between those and some in the back, like she pointed out but 🤷🏾‍♀️ idk lol I love the idea of just letting your hair work itself out, and that’s overall my thought process here too. I’m happy yours are starting to fill in more! 🤎

Yes! I see and reply back to all my comments 🤎🤗 my install was $2k in Ft Lauderdale, FL! Are you in FL? I can give you my loctician’s contact if needed! And thank you!!
