Big Country perform Where The Rose Is Sown live at The Hexagon in Reading on 14th April 1986 for a Whistle Test special. Remastered in HD with enhanced sound.
In 1983 i was an intern in internal medicine for 1 year in phoenix, arizona...i was 26 years old....i heard "in a big country" on the radio and liked it...i bought the cassette....and i swear to this day i had an hour drive per day back and forth from hospital to home and i listened to the crossing...365 times...big country got me through one of the hardest years of my life....and from that day on i was commited...i am now 67...and own every bigcountry album on LP +CD....+every EP LP's they did like wonderland with winter time on B side....i was fortunate to see them like in 1984-85 after steeltown came out...saw the live at the palladium in LA.....one of the greatest shows ever....i own the VHS copy of the barrowlands new years eve show...and have watched it every new years eve to rock in the new year....its incredible how great this band was....and likewise its incredible how many people have never heard any other song but "in a big country"!....thats ok with me...because when i read these comments there are lots of people who feel like me......i get goosebumps...every..every time i hear any big country song....from 26-67...until i die!....
One of the greatest music clips ever. Pure perfection and it gives me goosebumps every time I watch it especially the bit at the end with Stu and Tony bouncing round the stage. The look of enjoyment from them is great to see. Stay alive
Saw them at Newcastle city hall in 85 when their amps packed in after 2 songs and even though they got them working and finished the concert they issued everyone free tickets for an extra date 👏👏👏👏class act and great live band .
Was at this gig in my hometown...got a load of free tickets from the fan club..so myself and my mates went..all down the front...had seen them in Holland a couple of months before..And many time around the uk...They nailed every gig...all holds very special memories for me...brilliant live band..RIP Stuart
Hexagon Reading whistle test special, what a night. Another sublime performance and a pleasure to see one of the best live acts in the world. Saw them on 25 other occasions all round U.K. and Europe. No one compares. Amazing individual musicians, as a collective something on a different level.
Great anti-war song...saw them countless times, met Stuart and Bruce at the motorcycle racing at Knockhill, still have the autographed program, and met Jamie Watson in a service station toilet recently, while having a wee,of all things 😂
Such mucianship.....i have read this......when asked about the guitar skills of stuart adamson.....both eric clapton and the edge....said that he was on the same level as jimi hendrix in that he could play lead guitar and lead vocals.....considered him obe of the best....thats saying something...RIP!
To confirm what everyone here says, this period, the 80’s, no band, big or small, professional or amateur, chart act or juggernaut dinosaur rockers, none of them could compare to BC live as demonstrated here. Nobody.
