Its brutally amazing how most of today's so called hip hop crap makes the old school, Sound even better than it did when we first heard it back in the day.
I agree. And this dropped in 89 or 90. People swear out it's because we're older than we don't appreciate these mumble trap rapping millennial bastards but that's not it. I listen to a bunch of music waaaaay before my time including Beethoven. I think all of us appreciate true musicianship and content of classic lyrics. Also, let's talk about the 500lb elephant in the room. The rappers were very masculine in those days and not emasculated as they are now. You also had to prove you were a real emcee in order to be taken seriously (unlike now). #MyRantForToday
My favorite part of this rhyme.......Hmmmmmmmmmmm, now what's a title to fit me? A champ like Tyson, a Captain like Kirk, no Employee of the Month, cause yo, I do work The K-A-N-E is on the J-O-B An expert, cause I get it D-O-N-E So lights, camera, action - all hail the one! That gets the job done
Upon first listening, one can immediately tell that Kane spent serious time sitting down, writing his lyrics, and perfecting them. As I call it "woodshedding" his raps. A concept that so many artists nowadays can't seem to understand.
man i would give anything to go back then... i love the 1988- 92 era.... i was born a year after that era... sadly.. 1993. i love the new jack swing era. the fashion, hairstyles.. the music.. this era of music is shitty... everything is so repetitive...
Nah if you lived this era no time machine needed...this generic era we in now makes it easy to go back into time via youtube, a blunt and 40(do they still even make those)..peace 2 my old head crew lol
Today's Rap music is straight up garbage, now this music right here is when it was fun to dance to! You can't disrespect Beats like this...Old School is that flava for me!😎👌
Yra unfortunately it won't happen 😕 😔 😞 😪 😒 especially all these bumble gumm nursery rhymes waterd down rap we have nowadays and that says alot from an 80s baby I'm supposed to like the new stuff but I never got into none of it
No guns, no naked women, no glorification or drugs or “street cred” just a messenger, the message, and brothers dancing their hearts out. THOSE WERE THE DAYS!! No one worried about getting shot at a party, block party, or concert. Rappers supported each other. I remember practicing those dance moves with my cousins alllllll day on Saturdays and when we spent the night at each others house across Youngstown, Toledo, Akron, and Cleveland. The weekends and summers were unmatched. Sadly, a by gone area. SMH…….those were the GOOD OLE DAYS. Thankfully all of the first cuzzos are still alive and now we all have children that range from 18-30.
That use to be a club or house party bagging hit back in the days but, needless to say it could still do the same thing compared to these rap songs nowadays.
oh yeah. this here is my JAM!!!! "cause any husband who won't i'm a neighbor who will get the job done!" YASssss!! Bring back the days of rappers who were fine, talented and smooth. He was so fine!
As a young 10yr old growing up in LA (the time this sing came out), Big Daddy Kane always represented black masculinity and placed black women in their right right positions, no matter what life of walk they were from. For fellas, he gave you the antetode for getting/saving a black women in today's standards!
Kane.....yet another Mount Rushmore clever lyricist whose work still holds up today. Also, one of the first rappers to incorporate himself into the upbeat, intricate dance craze of the time...while rapping. What can you say about the impeccable gear, in a sea of track suits.
boy Big Daddy Kane had mad lyrics. everything he said transitioned perfectly and made sense. that's what I miss with today's rap. the shit their talking about these days makes no damn sense. "i'm be fresh as hell if the feds watching"? FOH with this bullshit!
I was in the 4th grade when this came out back in the days.I used to hear it being play on the radio back in1989 Also alone with smooth operator.this was rap city days.
Yo....... I wish I was able to get into the clubs back then I would of worked this song on the dance floor just imagine lights flashing , the fashion etc. I was born In 84 😥 but still grew up on new jack swing !!!!!
Here's the deal: I've been an avid follower of Hip-Hop since the late 80's, and I can say, without any hesitation that "I Get The Job Done" is most likely my all-time favorite Hip-Hop video.......from, without question, my all-time FAVORITE Hip-Hop M.C, the one & only Big Daddy Kane. I truly thank God this is on RU-vid. I have the music.....the video is the "cherry" on the cake.
Big Daddy Kane and a ton more of the classic rhyme legends took part in creating two books - *HOW TO RAP* and *HOW TO RAP 2*. One of his comments in them is this- "As an MC from the ’80s, really your mentality is battle format, so when you’re writing a rhyme, the majority of the time you’re writing a bragging and boasting rhyme about yourself being the nicest MC. Really what your focus was, was to have a hot rhyme in case you gotta battle someone, so that was your main focus, not really making a rhyme for a song."
One of the coldest mcees to this day we dont got any shit like this today east coast needs to come back to its roots in true hip hop the 5 elements and all
This was my yearbook quote back in 91 😂😂😂 now whats a title to fit me , a champ like tyson a captain like kirk, no employee of the month cause you i do work , Mitch T is on the j-o-b an expert cause i get it d-o-n-e , so lights camera action all hail the one that gets the job done
