I was planning to go this year, but as usual something came up. Haven't been there since I was a vendor back around 10 years ago. Great to see Dennis from Anchor Video was still there. He was my neighbor for many train shows. Also good to see Greg from CT Rail. A great railroader right there!
The guy explaning how the signal system works reminded me of what I tell visitors to my club about DCC. I say, "It's Magic". I have no idea how it works, it just does. Greeting from Santa Barbara County, California. A transplanted Long islander, West Island member.
Great video. I always enjoy seeing these train shows. As a matter of fact, I went to the one in Freeport a few years ago, and it was a lot of fun. There's also one going on in Hicksville the day right after my 19th birthday, and I'm happy about that.

The train at 34:00 was authentic. On a scale basis, it is as long as freight trains are typically today, preventing passenger trains from passing on sidings designed for the shorter consists of the past, and frustrating drivers who are more likely to run around crossing gates to avoid a long delay.
When I said it wasn’t authentic, I meant that you would never see a freight train today like that without any graffiti on it, sad as it is. I would love to see a real freight train look like that clean as a whistle.
@@3985uprr I did get that. But otherwise it is very contemporary. Perhaps it would be even more so if it were derailed because of poor maintenance, another unfortunate modern trend.
Something different! It was great. I am not sure about people buying clothing decked out in the various extinct logos. The only one I would consider is New Haven since as a child, I lived in a home that overlooked the NH tracks. Even better, a neighbor drove those trains. I wanted to take over his job when I grew up and he retired. Unfortunately, NH went away before I had the chance.
another year that we go on the same day but don't meet each other. the place is so huge and so packed with good stuff. I saw someone carrying around a red horn that they presumably bought. I surely don't have the money for that but I did pick up a weathered CSX SD40-2. so much to see but I didn't wanna buy much as I'd have to carry it all the way back to jersey on the train with me.
When I look at HO & N scale models, I never really see any General Motors EMD SW-1001 Locomotives. I see SW-7s SW 9s all other SW series and MP series.
