Love the guy standing under the raised backhoe bucket. We call a bucket being in the air for no reason an "Asshole Magnet", and they are. It's amazing how, out of all the room on a job site, some people are just attracted to the spot under a bucket or suspended load.
A little hint. With this many people watching and helping. Hand-held air horns are a must. They can and WILL save a life. Someone sees anything wrong, one blast on the horn and everybody stops.
Grew up in a construction family with heavy equipment. Started working with my dad when I was 10 and when he had to use a cable he made sure me and my brothers knew the danger if it broke. He once took a piece of cable about 6 foot long and laid down a watermelon and swung it so hard it cut it in two. He then look at us and said, "That was child's play compared to how fast that cable will come at you if it snaps. Just think of that watermelon has your head" LOL We stayed clear.
As I’m watching the beginning of this pull I’m looking at all those bodies that are standing in probably some of the worse places they could be standing in, should anything (like a cable or that block) come apart with all that pressure that’s being put on all those things!
I cant be the only one thinking, SLIPPED OFF A SHELF!!! That thing was out in the middle. Wtf! Lol Hey unfortunately for him it made for some good content. DGS got it done. Thanks for sharing
All those Guys standing near the steel cable while pulling ? And the nomination for the Darwin Award 2023 goes to : "The grey hoddie guy with the Smartphone filming" !!
A lot of Chiefs, an awful lot of Chiefs... i liked it when one of the Chiefs was yelling at the Excavator operator to shut her off, only to see the Excavator operator get it up and out of the water. Experts are generally only as clever as they assume they are!
My dad used to say to me ,,,your only as important as you think you are,,,,your not important to me,,, he said that go many a smart arse like father like son !!!
good video /a lot of bosses doing what they do best.waveing there hands around /supprised and very lucky that someone was not cut in half by ropes breaking in half ./ all is well got it out and running CHEERS😃
Now could you just imagine what it would be like with one of them new Volvo electric excavators, there would be no hope in hell of it starting unlike diesel power
Excellent piece of recovery, hope the engine on the excavator isn't damaged. I concur with what others say about keeping people out of the hazard zone if a cable/chain breakes.
OMG, standing WAAAAY too close to those cables and chains. Hate to see anyone lose a leg or worse. Seen A LOT of BAD whoopsies that way in my 49 years. Be safe out there.
Holy crap he was determined to get her out. It sounds like when the piston dead headed it may have bent a rod, with all the smoke and clatter from the engine this little jaunt may hurt his behind.
Nice job helping out a friend in need Brandon. He will be embarrassed about this accident for the rest of his life. That's why he kept at it when Dad was telling him to shut it down. Your buddy just wanted it to be over. Poor guy.
I could not believe how deep it was in the water! you really know how to properly rig the equipment to be able to remove it from the water w/o damaging or tipping over. great job getter it done
It would have been much cheaper and easier to dewater this small lake if you were allowed to pump this water over the outlying area. Placing a containment around the machine would have collected all the oils.
Coming soon to an auction near you. 1 recently washed 892 excavator 😀. Good job guys. A few years ago a company was trying to clear a floating bog from behind a dam and swamped a similar sized excavator. That took a dozer and 3 heavy wreckers to pull it out
@@dirtgrainsteel hate to see hitachi and Deere parting ways after 30 sumthin years. Were a great team, hitachi makes some damn good equipment, would buy in a heartbeat. Proven, durable and economical. My brother runs his small business and swears by either one. Opinions are one thing, but y’all in the know CHOOSING to run hitachi speaks volumes to me.
So many people trying to die if that cable snaps on the first pull have been driving the tow tracker when this has happened the rollbar saved me with some quick reactions dangerous business well done getting her out
2:13 The recommended track tension for a Caterpillar D8H bulldozer is typically between 1.25 to 2 inches of sag on the bottom side of the track when measured at the midpoint between the front idler and the rear idler. Under-tensioning can result in excessive slippage, reduced traction, and increased fuel consumption.
It is a very bad idea for this guy to stand next to a cable under tension, if that cable snap and get him, he will be dead and not the excavator. It is a good practice to throw a heavy coat or a wet blanket over the cable.
