As much as I love the Big Fat Quiz, I don't think I've ever been so amused by it as watching the surprise introduction of the Gunge Box being turned around on Jimmy Carr. Positively glorious. Also, Richard's entirely deadpan "I will kill you in your sleep" tickles the dark recesses of my soul.
I doubt Jimmy wouldn't make jokes about it a lot if it were Jonathan Ross or something, he was a dick for doing it and deserves to have it mentioned, don't get me wrong I'm a fan but when you're that well off you don't need to be avoiding tax.
What a fun show! The "laid back borderline-drunk vibe" works well. I didn't get all the references, being from the US, but that made it more entertaining. For instance, I was surprised that they all knew who Linda Tripp is; I naively thought that the whole Clinton/Lewinsky thing would not have interested the Brittish people. I'm looking forward to watching more episodes... Thanks for posting!
I'm not really a fan of Jimmy Carr in general, but I've been doing marathon of this show since several days ago and I have to admit that he is a good host in this. :)
I first came across him on QI a few years ago and i didn't like him much then, but then i started watching other UK comedy shows here on YT, and gradually my distaste for him diminshed to the point where i now find him utterly hilarious; much of the hilarity ensues, of course, from the interaction with the other comedians/comediennes on those shows (8oo10cdc, WILTY, WISIS, et.c.)
blacktulip having seen both, I’ll say his panel show hosting is a lot better than his stand up. He can be funny in the moment, given the right guests, but he’s not a brilliant writer. Any time he says a premeditated joke, it feels forced, awkward, and a bit obsequious. I enjoy his interactions with other comedians, but on his own, he’s a bit weak
What I particularly like about him in the panel show format is that he seems to genuinely enjoy when someone else is funny, which I think makes the people around him more comfortable.
I love these shows. Thank you so much for posting them. Richard was awesome as always and everyone else as while. Richards and Bobs answer about U2 killed me.
I was about to go through withdrawal after having watched all the previous episodes of BFQ, and just as I was looking up the Wikipedia page for the show, I saw there were two new eps! Went on the search and found these, and I'm forever grateful. Thank you, and I can't wait until BFQotY 2013!
Oh my God, Richard ... he looked so fucking pissed, remind me to never anger him wow and he's usually such a sweetheart. Good on Rossie to suggest Jimmy go in instead!
Agreed, he had such a valid point. We all know Richard usually knows every answer but chooses to go with something more fun and comedic instead. Though I admit, a part of me slightly wanted to see how Richard's expression would be if he got gunked.
Amber Nopoe I'm glad Jonathan offered the solution - Richard looked genuinly upset at the very thought. This is supposed to be a fun quiz, even (perhaps especially) for the participants, so I doubt Jimmy would've pressed too much anyway.
Wow, what a time to continue watching this, i stopped last night on my phone at the 38 minute mark and then i returned to this video and Jimmy said "Welcome back to the big fat quiz."... That is spooky!
They did one set of decade-based Big Fat Quizzes in 2012, and then did another set in 2013, because the first ones had been so popular. It's not surprising really - if an idea works, milk it. VH1 had I Love the 80's, I Love the 80's Strikes Back, and I Love the 80's 3-D - and that was just for the one decade.
Hilarious! "This video contains content from WMG, Channel 4, Warner Chappel, UPMG Publishing, SACEM, PIAS, PRS CS and UMPI, one or more of whom may have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds" The cheek!! ;)
Nah, it's just a regionalisation thing. The copyright legal beagles have restricted where this clip can be shown. I caught up with it on Channel 4's website though :) www.channel4.com/programmes/big-fat-quiz/4od
Heck yes! Rikki, you are AWESOME! I was just about to resign myself to re-watching something from your tumblr site but then I noticed it was 2013!! Big ups!
I would have went with Tom Hanks just by virtue that he`s the highest grossing actor or all time. His movies have made over 8.5 billion dollars. That`s just insane.
Sue has probably the neatest handwriting out of all the big fat quiz panelist that have been on the show. Its the first time I could make out every word that was written without them having to say it out.
I'm American and have been watching British Shows for a while now. The only good late shows we've had are Last Week Tonight, The Jim Jefferies Show, and The Opposition with Jordan Klepper (which used to be a nightly show but is now moving to weekly). Two of those hosts aren't even American! Haha
Thanks for uploading this! It's really great content for those of us on lockdown (depending where you live in the world etc) I have my cuppa ready & snacks .. LETS GO! 📺☕️🍷🍕 Thanks again👍🙌📺😎
I am right in thinking they had Carr do the gunk so that Ayoade won't have to do it? Judging from his expression, it looked like he was dead serious about what he said if he was ever gunked...
Nah, not really. There was only one seat in the Gunge tank, and the teams were all pairs. Plus, the moment Jonathan Ross suggested putting Jimmy in the tank and everyone jumped onboard, Jimmy barely put up the slightest fuss, so I'm pretty sure he knew he was going in there from the beginning. But this is all speculation, of course, I could be wrong.
