Big Fish on a Big Bucktail Jig!

Sometimes wind and current conditions force us to fish heavy to stay near the bottom. That's what happened near the end of this trip when a heavy bucktail produced one of my best catches of the season so far. We carry 2- to 6-ounce bucktails on these trips, but mostly fish 3 and 4 ounces in the 60-100' ocean depths.

I get so excited when I get a notification. Watching your videos when I’m having a bad day with my depression really helps make me feel better. I hope to get out and do some fluke fishing myself soon

Loved the analysis! I love trying different things. I caught a flounder on a drop shot rig using a glow in the dark plastic 3inch shad. You never know what it will bite!

I understand trying to keep the videos pg but my favorite part of these videos is when you and your friends give each other shit. Reminds me of all the guys I grew up fishing with.

Thanks Mr. Skinner for sharing your knowledge. Learning from your videos and your fluke book has improved my fishing considerably. I have become a full Skinner method convert and I'm using all the gear: Skinner rod, Quantum Accurist reel, Skinner fluke jigs and Gulp.

Last week the sea bass in my neighborhood refused other colors and preferred the blue fuse. I think good to use when snapper blues are around

I spoke with a fisherman sunday about bucktailing for fluke and weight. The resistance of the bucktail is great for fluke at the weight that gives a slightly delayed drop is how he put it. One oz. makes the difference from a hard drop to a soft drop. I never thought about that and saw it that day with a snag in the white gil plate when the fish missed it and layed on it. The Rod put some money in my pocket this weekend, thanks John. My buddy Mark used it yesterday, caught a decent fish and will be picking up the same set up. 👍Nice catch

Great video as always!! Second time out to montuak yesterday with my new skinner rod and me and my buddy limited I caught a 24” and a fat 22” love the rod !!
