Great vid guys. The tide floods around Anglesey from both ends, Puffin Sound and Caernarfon. Slack water is an hour and 40 minutes before high tide at Menai Bridge. That's when the flow changes direction from South Westerly (from Caernarfon) to North Easterly (from Puffin sound). Doesn't last long either on spring ( very high) tides at full and new moons. After slack the tide builds quickly and can rip through up to 6 knots. You would have an easier time on neap tides as a lower volume of water passes through. They are the lowest tides occurring around halfway between new and full moons. I guess if you were there last week high tide was about 11pm so slack would have started around 9.20pm at MB and a few minutes later at Brittania Bridge. Wow that was more of a ramble than I intended but I hope this helps you get the best out of your next trip. Cheers.
good vid had my heart going then not impossible to get decent sea trout at the right time of year .. yes they do feed whilst in the sea I can confirm that! but when you and your mate said salmon I stayed tuned in. A bullhus is a bullhus though its a nice day nice view and not blanking 👍
Used to live on the straits overlooking the water from my 7th floor apartment over 30 years ago. (flat} . Used to see lots of large bas and occasional monster conger. Brought back memories!!!!
Well done on your first double figure Huss👍used to catch some massive Huss up to 16lb on Trefor pier on the lleyn but I'm not sure if it's still standing 🙄all the best Lincoln 🤙👍
Some current that lads, nice Huss too. we tend to use the pulley rig in the North east with the rotten bottom with most rough ground marks we fish. cracking little sesh. tight lines boys keep it up. SUBBED!!
I remember when you could drive right down and fish almost from your car. It was never easy fishing, current too fast, and very snaggy. Then the idiots decided that it was an ideal place to dump stolen cars, some alight some not. Anyway that was that. Quite rare to see anyone fishing there these days. Have you ever tried Pwllfanagol on the opposite shore. Used to be the place for Conger .
ha ha watching you play that in the fast water reminded me of fishing for barbel. Aint sea fished in over 10 years but really enjoying these vids. Did you find out what that thing in the other vid was yet? seal?
Funny old place the Swellies. I guess you know slack water isn't at high and low tide there? At slack you have around 60 minutes of fishing time until that steam train of a current starts again.
Correct Richard, it's important highlight exactly that point. Slack water is NOT at low or high water, AND not only is the turnaround slow like a beach, (I think it's really quick at the latter part of the flood (...correct me if I'm wrong), but it varies depending on springs or neaps... and likely also, if there's solid wind from either the southwest or northeast.
I live in caernarfon but ive never fished there...how do you get down to that mark are you parking in the layby on the bridge.....cheers enjoyed the video.
Yes buddy park in the layby the bridge then though the gate were the police only vehicles can park, follow the path down u can’t miss is….. It’s a extremely snaggy spot tho haha
