If the drag is nonexistent that would mean the fish is probably a mile away. If the fish went nowhere that would mean the drag is probably maxed out. How you got 31 upvotes for that mistake is beyond me.
I get what you’re saying and I agree, but I could name at least a dozen things off the top of my head that’s guaranteed to get the adrenaline flowing and your heart pounding..lol
In summer I also fish for catfish in France with the wopper plopper (in France we call the European catfish silure). Here on the river where I fish a lot for catfish, fish over 2 meters are not uncommon. But topwater fishing for the "smaller" ones is great fun, especially when you see the fish and cast directly to it. The European catfish behave completely differently to those in the USA and grow significantly larger.
Reminds me of when I was a kid. We found an old pond at an abandoned farm, and long story short all we were catching was blue gill. Naturally I got bored and started dragging one across the top of the water. Next thing I know I'm reeling in a giant large mouth. Carried that sucker home on my bike.

I love how people think their over stressed, over fished local Reservoir has no decent fish because of genetics. Nah they have seen everything under the sun and know better after being caught and released a million times. You catch the ones young enough to not know better. Lol bass makes fine eating.
