Your theory on the reason smaller lakers don't get hooked is spot on. That's also why you can get multiple attempts on the same smaller sized trout - they don't get nipped by the hook.

If you want a giant blade bait for big lakers try a Fuzzy Duzzit. It's a musky jigging bait but is a really good big laker bait too

@@ClaytonSchickOutdoorsMy experience has taught me lots of time they are just hanging on or crushing the bait. You can bring them up 20-30 ft & I don’t think one even had a hook in them. They just open their mouth & let it go. It’s like a Pike hanging on to a walleye until you get it to the boat & they just release it. Great Video 👊🏻

Clayton, you told us about the rods/reels/line combo last time. You told us about the tackle this time, but you didn't mention the jig heads for the tubes and the hooks that you use on the dinnerbells. Do you use the factory hooks from Frostbite on the dinnerbells? Do you use the jig heads sold from Send It Outdoors w/ VMC hooks? if you don't mind. Awesome video and GREAT information. Thank you.

Only lake trout I ever hooked was exactly like that one Clayton had bite 3 times. I’d drop down he bite I’d lose him I’d drop down he’d bite I’d set the hook then lose him. I’d drop down 3rd time he’d bite I’d really set the hook then I lost him again. It was extremely frustrating
