As the owner of two Tennessee Walkers I know they move beautifully in their natural gait. anyone who thinks they naturally bear more weight on their back legs is smokin' something stronger than weed. i have seen your rescued TWH with no ability to swat a fly with their broken tails, and thrown away when their legs and hips brake down. thank you for all you are doing to STOP the abuse.

I really don't understand why or how people actually think that this looks beautiful. The poor horses look like they are going to split in half and there back legs look like they are going to snap . This looks absolutely disgusting and sickening. Then the way they cut their tale so the horse has no protection from flies biting them. I am extremely happy to hear that Big Lick is now banned. Now what is going to happen to all the horse's that are in it still. Love you all at yhe rescue and everything you do for these beautiful animals.... You rock. Tawnee is my Idol and my favorite woman in the world.....

Im sorry guys. I chickened out and had to fast forward a lot of it. I did see them have to stop and put the chain on, then fast forward a bit more, but when that big guy was on one and they sit so far back .looking from side on the horses back is slanted. Oh my goodness, I'm crying buckets here 😭😭.. then l stopped it again and heard the horse in distress..but l had to check out then, or I'll never sleep tonight. It's upset me so much. I appreciate you not letting them get away with any retaliation against Tawnee- stand your ground. The horses are already "spooked" and not by signs, but by pain and torture. When I realized that they LIVE in stacks I really turned my stomach.

It is obvious that you have had an effect as crowd sizes (if you call that a crowd!) are way down since you’ve begun protesting. And the number is entries has, fortunately, gone down, too. My daughters horse started as a Reiner, then was a Roper, and at 18 became a Barrel horse. He’s 22 and still going strong!

What does these people find in abusing this gorgeous horses and all they do is riding around the arena at the same gait and how do you tell who won?? It's breaks my heart the see these gorgeous horses going through so much pain.

I don't remember if this is what I would watch on tv with my Daddy back in the late 70's or not but I was so naive that I thought the horses were pretty. It makes me so sick to my stomach to know how these horses are treated and to think that I watched them in such awe back then. Please STOP BIG LICK!!

Why was the lady that whipped Cinnie not arrested for assault with the intent to case bodily harm. If she had caught her in the face, she could have blinded her. This is not acceptable behavior for any athlete. They should pull her from the show and the police need to make a report & arrest her. This is so wrong on so many levels.

Jason, the class that came after the one with 2 entries that the winner lost a chain was the THREE year old stallions class. I've seen one that you guys rescued a while ago that could only be given the last act of kindness. It (cannot remember what sex it was) was a little over 5 years old and it's poor broken body was a wreck. I cannot imagine how that man who was trying to convince you that stacks and chains were fine compared to the abuse in other breeds could possibly believe his justification! He's got his blinders stuck on really tight. It breaks my heart about this abuse. Decades ago, when I was a teenager, I knew a woman who bought a Tennessee Walking Horse from somewhere back East. Apparently the mare was used for the Big Lick for a short period of time as she told me that the farrier had to slowly change her hoof angles so that she didn't get sore while being transitioned to her normal walking gait. Back then in the Rocky Mountain region, most of us had never heard of any sort of gaited horse, unless it was a wild caught mustang so they were really rare. Now that I've found your channel, I'm horrified that this type of abuse is still going on almost 60 years later! We no longer crop dogs' ears. But it's OK to completely destroy a horse for a ribbon/trophy? When i was riding in competitive trail riding with NATRC (North American Trail Riding Conference), we had several gaited horses competing, I knew of one Paso Fino, a few Foxtrotters, a Rocky Mountain and a couple Tennessee Walkers. At about mile 25 I started to envy them as I trotted along on my Arab. They seemed so smooth...

Saw a special on the big lick! It show the grandstand and it was packed with people. Then it showed the same grandstand inside this year and you saw an almost empty area. It was with Pricilla Presley. Elvis was gifted a Tennessee walker and neither one didn’t know what the horse went through and when Pricilla realized what the horse goes through she removed her horses from the big lick and it was the same fat man dressed in black that I saw on your channel

My guess that these things happen to Tawnee more than any one else is because she's the face of Horse Plus Humane Society. Plus she's the one that is going to Washington D.C. to fight for these horse protection laws.

Wonderful to see the end of this. I cried when I heard. I am so happy there's hardly any horses in the classes and hardly anyone in the crowd. The man coming and talking with you is very typical--I've heard all of that for the last 20+ years. I love how you ask him relevant questions and he can't answer. He's as brainwashed as the rest of them, and since they won't change, then the government has to do it for them.

I couldn’t comment during the live show and I’m not sure why but this just made me so sick. I hadn’t a clue to what was being done to these horses. I’m originally from upstate NY and just didn’t know. I’m just appalled at this organization. I was also shocked that Tawnee and the other lady were slapped in the face with that whip. Thank you for all that you do, you are wonderful caring people.

Have you seen what they have done to the German Shepherd dogs that these people have also. I used to work for a trainer & her training stables were in a show barn. I got to see the shows and walk among the trainers & riders and saw German Shepherds that walked just like the Big Lick Walkers. They were bred that way. Their hips have to be super bad!! I feel so bad for those dogs. Is there any help you can do for the German Shepherds someday?
