Yes, 3 nice-sized stillborns. It was in the vlog last week (I think). I just cried... Even though this ewe wasn't a close pet, it's still heartbreaking to see it.
These sheep are so cared for. You are obviously a very caring, hard-working, attentive lady. I wish you and your livestock good health, love, and prayers.
Maybe she dies process one or 2 a year, to eat for her meals. Nothing wrong with that as Farmers! Atleast she knows what's in the meat. If Farmers didn't sell cattle, chickens, turkeys, & pigs you wouldn't have any meat to eat.😂👍👍❤️ Thank a farmer!👍👍❤️😊
Sandi you are incredible! You are so in tune with your sheep, you know exactly what's going on with them as soon as you look at them. You're one special lady ❤❤❤
@@LathropLdST Read my comment again. I didn't blame her i just said she ain't incredible. And you're probably right..thats why i don't have a goldfish..
@@zzzorrshe’s incredible in the fact that her gut told her something was right from such small signs not that she’s some miracle life giver. All of them would have been lost otherwise ya know?
I love to see how attentive you are to your animals. You can read their behaviors and body language so well. Thank you for taking great care of them always!
That’s very sad and hard on the mama sheep. She didn’t get the joy of bonding with her lambs. Best thing to do is aid her recovery and give her the best food possible. I’m just a viewer of the channel but I have been through this with my little rescue bunny when she lost her two kits.
Sandi, I am soooo glad you made some decisions for the flock as a whole. It was very intelligent to realize that overall the sheep weigh more and the lambs per ewe ratios have elevated through the years! It never even crossed my mind until you talked about it on the last video and in your Instagram posts. I feel like an idiot. DUH Susan! 🥺🤔🫣 Anyway, it was also smart to spend a little more time watching the ewes during this unbelievable, record breaking heat wave! I'm sure the weather has impacted all of the flock. Anytime an animal overheats, the same signs and symptoms occur as with humans. The body has to burn more glucose for the elevated heart and breathing rates. And I'm a nurse! Of course they need more "sugar-type" grains to help with that. This new set of protocols are going to be awesome for you and flock outcomes! Applause for you! Blessings from Alabama ❤️
Yuck! grain. Not good for digestion and makes hoofs grow too fast so you have to trim them. Sheep are herbivores. Grain isn't nearly as nutrient dense and displaces better green foods, besides feeding the wrong gut microbes.
Sandy, I own and operate a small poultry, fruit and vegetable farm in N IL. I wanted to reach out & let you know, producer to producer, we all work and pray for all our Canadian farms to stand strong and endure this onslaught of insane regulations falling down on our heads. Those who don't get real life knowledge farming love to regulate those of us who do. Praying you continue and thrive. Love your videos. Sharing experience with the medical anomalies is extremely helpful to many. Hang in there. Amy, from Illinois ❤
To be slaughtered? At least that's what I was told. They are taken care of and yes meat doesn't appear in grocery stores without this so it is good they are taken care of ethically .
@@3_3645the way all livestock should be cared for and if for consumption ethically humanely slaughtered as stress free a life and death as possible makes for much better meat and costs nothing extra if not for consumption but for milk or eggs or something else still stress free pain free breath fresh air have room to move treated with kindness humanely without any abuse It’s just all round good for all human and animal makes better animals better humans and costs nothing extra Factory farms forgot this long ago and need to end family farms are the right way to go and can and do produce as much as similar size acres whys as factory farm with better quality products oh so much less pollution than factory farms that can get up and leave once the place is to polluted for them to work out of so they sell up and move to next peice of ground and do it again. They have no connection to the land the area anything local farmers do have ties and don’t move on they keep the places as clean as they can they don’t pollute the water ground water aquifers because they live there with their families and drink the water grow food on the land they have vested interest in keeping it all as non polluted as possible factory farms are bad news bad business bad products support the family farmers not corporations
Oh how I hate to see preg tox (and I know you do too!!)! I think it was a great idea to randomly select ewes and test them like you did in your last video. Interesting results for sure! Also, caught some mommas before they showed symptoms, which is always awesome! Looking forward to lambing! ❤ ETA: Much like you, I’m hard on myself, too. I know the preg tox issue has you upset and understandably so but I have no doubt that it will be under control soon. You’ve got an amazing team with Rex and your nutrition people, you’ve got this!!
She’s got quite a few little ones in there. Minimum 4-5. I pray she’s able to deliver safely. I’m really glad they have you as a mamma 😇. God bless you all. Lambs included
So awesome that you caught that right off the bat. You’ve got a larger herd but you’re always attending to them as you should👌you can tell that you really care for all of them♥️
God bless the farmers ❤ thank you for sharing this because so many of us are totally disconnected and have no clue what it takes to care for livestock ❤
Bless this poor sheep mamma she is BIG PREGNANT. Hoping for a happy and healthy delivery and thank goodness you’re so skilled and knowledgeable and were able to catch this early on to help her!
You are awesome Sandi, the instincts you have from knowing your animals so well are spot on. Brilliant job! Everything crossed for healthy mama and lambs. 🤞🏻
It takes years of caring for animals and learning your herds' behavior to know when you need to check for issues. Hope momma has healthy babies and she's is ok❤❤
You do a wonderful job ", none of us are born with the knowledge", everyday is a learning process", you are a good teacher", and its OK to show your emotions", we all had to do something that was painful in our lives". I'm proud of you".
I had this exact same thing happened to me even though I wasn’t pregnant. I had a reaction to my immunotherapy and I got the same drugs and a lot of steroids. God bless you guys for figuring all this stuff out.
Well, Big MaMa: I fight everyday to stay in Ketosis…Now…you know it’s not good Preggers or Babies of Preggers… Prayers even for sheep. Normal ketones, healthy babies, less stress on Miss Sandi!!!!n
You are so awesome with your sheep. You're just really on your game and I love to see it❤ As a fiber artist I really like to see my fiber animals being loved and you definitely run your flock with love.❤
My understanding is that if Mom doesn’t get enough to eat, all the nutrients in her body go to the lambs. Her body can’t function because it’s too busy feeding lambs instead of taking care of Momma sheep
She answered this on many of her full length videos and has been consulting with her sheep nutritionist and her vet and even a different vet to try to put an end to this.
