Looks great. Only question is, are they trying to stop a tank with that? I think that fence is stronger than the building next to it.

Now THAT's a full scale project! I hear ya on the "one-man-band" problem, I'm in the same boat when it comes to pretty much everything I do. You should go ahead and get an overhead lifting solution, those steel-toed sandals are gonna let you down in the worst way. LOL!

GREAT WORK Jimbo! You and your guys ALWAYS do quality work. If I was in Cali I would recommend you and your company to everyone. Quick question though.... I get that this is a security fence but why such overkill? Why did each fence post require such a deep footing, rather than just using concrete anchors and simply bolting the posts to the finished concrete? (The same way you bolted the posts to the footing) Just curious.... The finished product is great looking and will last forever!

I don't mean to criticize too much because you did a great job and your welds look good, but it usually isn't a good idea to run flux-core (or 7018 stick) downhill, especially on thicker material. You are likely to get slag inclusions and lack of penetration. You can see pinholes in the weld at 13:27. That being said I don't think that fence is going anywhere, nice job.

Jon D totally agree I run .045 dual shield every day at work and it's best to run it uphill with no weave. I'm a repair welder at a place that makes wind towers and the thinnest plate we use is 1/2". Up to 1 1/2".

Good job Jimbo! I got to tell you that I did laugh at you when you were building the columns & panels in your shop/garage. I laughed because I do the same damn thing as you did by working alone when we both at times could use another hand to help but, time spent telling someone how and what to do I could have already done it myself. I've been in construction since I was 14yrs. old and started full time at 18 & I'm 55yrs. now & I hate asking for help when I know I can do it myself and in fabricating work, that helper would probably be standing around waiting because I like building it the way I want it. I'm in the Northern part of LA county and I'm guessing but it looks like you're in the O.C. It's cool watching your channel because of it being so close by. I've been following your videos for the past 3 - 4 months and I don't why but I just now subscribed to your channel. Best to you Jimbo, Lou

I set my posts 4' deep and 18" diameter on the gate posts and 4' deep and 12" on the side posts.. posts for gates are heavy wall 4" and side posts are lighter 4" panels and gates are 1" x 1" for horizontal parts and .5x.5 vertical with the exception of the verticals at the end of each gate.. that is 1x1 also.. all welded and i thought it was some heavy duty stuff until i saw this... lol.. fantastic work man.. i want to build one like this now...

Your process works fine. But there is more than one way to skin a cat. I fit structural steel for a living. If you wanted to avoid lifting every column on that square tube when you fit the plates on you could clamp an angle to the plate at your 3 in mark from center. Then just rest angle on end of column. Check w square and tack away. Modified square is pretty good for checking for square also. Not dogging the way you do it. Love your videos. Just throwing it out there.
