Shrimper Keepers,
It is time for another Shrimp Saturday video. Today we are going to talk about my fail at acclimating new shrimp to an aquarium, why it is great to us RO water for freshwater shrimp, why it is important to remineralize the water, what products to use to remineralize the water and finally a trick to simplify the process of remineralizing RO water with a TDS pen.
First, I messed up bad... I completely forgot to remineralize the water when I set up new tanks for some crystal red and crystal blacks I had in another tank. I acclimated them over 3 days so luckily it wasn't a huge shock on the shrimp although I already lost a handful of shrimp.
Ro water is so important to what I do. In no way do shrimp need RO water to thrive. Although, RO water is great for shrimp because it eliminated or greatly reduce the risk of bacteria coming from tap water. City tap water ranges in parameters and what is living in it. This makes tap water and well water a rsiky option for shrimp keepers.
Salty shrimp GH+ and Salty shrimp GH+/KH+ are the two product I use to remineralize RO water. Both have their own purposes as explained in the video. These are the two I would recommended to any shrimp keeper.
Check out the end of the video for an easy method to remineralize RO water for shrimp and a way to know if your shrimp tank is ready for a water change.
