Absolutely typical. Lets rebuild and gentrify the high street . What's needed is for more investment in PEOPLE not property. If the local people in erdington have no money, jobs or future then this is doomed to failure. Erdington used to be a thriving retail area but due to high unemployment and continued lack of investment it has been allowed to become a centre for pound shops and pawn shops. Make the people whole and the investment will follow.
Although I like the conservative candidate, I will definitely not be voting for him as the party he represents is responsible for 10 years of austerity that made the corporations and bankers wealthy and left a majority of this country to poverty, a brexit that has took away our freedoms and finally a cost of living crisis and a clown in number 10
About time the High Street has needed a make over for years. The Restaurants sound great. I remember walking it when I was young in the 1970's and it wasn't scruffy like it is now. Well done I hope the bid is accepted and it goes through.
Bolony, heard it all before, lucky to get out of the dump, ironical that they are filming on the "village green" ( a broken fenced off piece of grass). Just another Handsworth in the making.
Birmingham is a city of opportunities. But the overwhelming presence of cars must be taken under control and space given over to trees, pedestrians and cyclists. Ugly, derelict looking Surface and multistorey city centre car parks wiped out in favour of housing and gardens. Urban motorways are a thing of the past. Such is the case of the dismal Suffolk St, Gt Charles st, St Chads, James Watt St, Moor St. Smallbrook Qway circuit is asphyxiating the city centre, limiting its expansion, constraining pedestrians and cyclists alike. Transform it into a tree lined, traffic calmed boulevard. Vienna.s defining boulevard, the Ring, was born when the city walls were pulled down. Central Birmingham is got a golden opportunity in this respect to become an awesome, green, pollution free world class area. These mind hurting gaps in between the central station bridges ought to be covered up and the space transformed into gardens and public spaces. About time the High St of suburbs such as Erdington, Balsall Heath, Alum Rock etc are revamped. The city´s litter collection service is absolutely disgusting. Regards
