There are truckers who do vlogs here in the states, so if you're looking for driving footage, check them out. Some of them are Russian, but they do speak English too. I would show you a really great one but I don't remember what it's called... but it was more mountainous terrain with evergreen trees, and insane views. Edit: Okay I remember the place now. It's called "Donner Pass" ... it's taken many truck drivers lives. Dangerous but beautiful route.
Mr Alba thank you for liking my post. It was from my ❤. I don't think folks understand how dangerous trucking is. You truckers put your lives on the line every time you climb behind the wheel AND you do it for us. It's a tough life and pay sucks so just wanted you and all truckers are appreciated, at least by me. Be safe sir.
Stonehenge replica was built by Sam Hill along with the Sam Hill Museum. Stonehenge was a memorial to the WW1 veterans of Klickitat county. The Museum was built for the queen of Romania. Sam Hill is buried just south of Stonehenge. The original town of Maryhill is just west of Stonehenge. The town that is called Maryhill now, was orginally called Columbus. The first paved highway in the state is Maryhill loops, paid for by Sam Hill. Drove that road a lot.
The accident was bad enough but I got to see parts of the west coast which I have never seen before so the extra 9 minutes to me was worth it. The scenery is beautiful there.
hey man! your video brought me right back to trucking with my grandpa..the road, the music, the colour of your truck ..everything. it gave me goosbumps the whole ten minutes. I miss him and those days.. thank you that was a good video besides the accident..hopefully the innocent guy is okay. this made my night dude, its crazy how much that took me back..that was so cool how a random video on youtube just did that to me, hope you have a good night and stay safe on the road :)
Dan Alba...I don't understand why people blow you crap, (guess cuz they can),it looked to me like you stopped exactly where you should have, IF, there had been NO car ahead of you, maybe, you could of made your turn. But, it kinda looked like the guy on your left, might of been out there a bit too far for you to comfortably make your turn without taking off his dog house. Absolutely a beautiful video! But STILL...it's not the same as being there! Good Job Man!
It was very cool to see I'm so glad that it did not hit my truck, I was actually planning on moving up after the car made its turn. Maybe that would have stopped the guy from turning, or maybe not
Daniel Alba But ya know, by staying your ground,as you did,you were actually doing that guy a favor, by giving him some protection from your lane of travel...seems like a friendly thing to do! Piss on right-of-way! You were doing the neighborly thing! Like any good driver woulda done, back in the day!
I was waiting on the truck that was coming down the hill. Did you see how the other truck got hit , I didn't want to get hit, that could've been me, no thanks
Daniel Alba Man your lucky you stayed put I am thinking maybe with your slight roll he thought you wanted him to go first to make your left turn easier but he fer got to look the other way.......just a guess.........that was way to close!
He forgot what he was driving. He saw that truck barrelling down that hill but thought he could make it. He forgot he was driving a truck and not a car. Short. He became impatient.
@@wbennettjr Yes. His view of the truck was screened by that road sign. If he chose the wrong moment to check left, he would have missed it. That's not to say that it's acceptable, but it was not intentional.
I spoke to the driver that got hit, and he said that he thought he saw all the guys blinker. Which was a bunch of BS because there was no blinker at all he just didn't want to wait.
Could his view have been blocked by the sign down the road ? I watched it again and noticed that the oncoming truck was down in the dip and might have been blocked by the sign , maybe ? The sign way down on the side of the road. I agree that the guy should have waited but i also wonder how fast the truck was going.
I can believe that he thought he saw a turn signal. He was watching the truck passing next to a guard rail. I can see how the truck passing by the guard rail could create the illusion of a blinking turn signal. However even if the oncoming truck actually had his turn signal on it doesn't change the fact that you should never trust a turn signal.
My son is a cross country trucker these videos terrifie me. So all you truckers out there, I am sending you all angels in my prayers. Thank you for all you do! Think l"'ll make this hug a trucker day. GOD BLESS YOU.
so 1 thing I think all you missed was the RV N CAR to MY LEFT just b4 I stopped, there was a family stopped n enjoying the views, n the truck coming the hill didn't want to go that way cause of that family with a 3 month out baby, now imagine if that driver would have went that way or even slammed on his brakes. he would of lost control of his truck. I'm glad he hit the truck instead of the RV N FAMILY. WATCH IT AGAIN.
+Daniel Alba Thank you for pointing it out, I missed it the first time. Thank heavens everyone was ok, and that the truck didn't swing around and hit you. By you posting this video maybe it will save some lives.
Daniel Alba shit where i live 30 min down the highway is a concreet beem plant and trucks always pull out right infront of people going 110kph, fucked up thing is happened to me 3 times everytime the guy looked at me comming and went anyways across both lanes, went in the ditch from one and he did not stop.
***** I deal with far worse intersections on a daily basis and I've been driving for 2 years. The visibility is good and the road is wide. That's really all you need.
Pause it at 6.02 and watch at impact how the trailer and front half of the Volvo 670 and reefer becomes airborn. Lucky he didn't roll over. The reefer was obviously empty and not loaded or it would have been much worse for the driver that struck him. Be careful out there drivers
this is my father in laws truck, the driver told him the transmission wouldn't shift and that's why he couldn't get out of the way in time. he found out the truth a year and a half later after seeing this video
These are my favorite type of RU-vid videos. guys ripping around their turf in bikes, sleds, dash cams in cars and rigs. I watched the whole video not knowing just how serious of footage was about to be captured.
*Would it be alright with you Mr. Daniel Alba to use this clip in an educational video* about accidents and road safety on my main channel DCtv? Credit, and name on the screen, as always will be provided. Also if you have any additional information about the accident (such as location) that would really be helpful. Look forward to your response.
+Xeldinn Hey, I live just down the road from there. Windy and hot in the summer. Windy and cold in the winter. Notice all the wind farms on the hill side?
pikiwiki Up the road a bit, left side; next to the guard rail. If you pause at 5:56 it's to the left of the truck coming down the hill. I think that's the one he's talking about.
He would have still been able to see up from the sign, and past the sign. He could have stopped his turn or waited so I gotta say he was being impatient
Actually it's entirely possible and happens all the time. The reason there was minimal damage to the trailer is because he hit it right at the back end of the base where the wheels are.
The roads along the Columbia river are in the middle of beautiful scenery but dang that interchange is dangerous. High winds, winter roads, idiot car drivers, the hikers along the road, make it an area to keep your eyes on the road. Always try to give the big rigs room they need when on that road or coming down 97 can be messy.
I live in East Vancouver, WA. HW-14 is a fucking madhouse sometimes. IMO, it's even worse the farther West you go. I hope that clown lost his job and got a BIG citation. Glad everyone was okay. Did the trucker who hit the trailer get injured at all?
It has been mentioned before, but if you stop the video at 5:54 you can see that from the drivers position of the truck thats turning, the truck coming down the hill is probably partly hidden by the big sign. He was probably looking right just after he started moving into the intersection, and when he looked left again it was too late to do anything except continue. This kind of accident happens all the time, but it's still the turning trucks fault for not ensuring it's safe to turn. Did your truck get damaged in any way?
Had that reefer been loaded... much different impact. That guy coming down the hill would have been killed. I also think that while the dummy that pulled out is clearly at fault, the guy coming east was doing so pretty aggressively, seeing how probably 98% of all eastbound trucks on 14 are proceeding down the hill on 97 to Biggs Jct. Nobody coming north expects a southbound truck to continue east there. Say what you will but if I'm that guy I'm not blasting through there at that speed expecting a free pass. Aggressive driving IMO not defensive at all. Also notice the congestion there at the time of this accident, lots going on. Amazing video.
@Daniel Alba . From what it looks to me - the driver turning left was at fault, like you said; not paying attention, and in a hurry. He had plenty of room, IMHO -to notice that other truck coming around the curve, and the sign itself is far enough away from the corner, where it couldn't have blocked his view for more than a second.
That is a busy intersection on a busy highway! Does there need to have a minimum number of collisions before it can qualify for a traffic signal ? How many lives is it worth this waiting for that number given by statistics ?
Real fascinated by how the other truckers stopped to help out any way they can. And as far as I can tell it's only truckers. Must be a brotherhood among them.
That must have been a big shock; at 7:40 you're reporting yourself on the Oregon side on Interstate 84, which, if I recall correctly, is about three miles and one big ass river away.
Too many people at that intersection assume vehicles, especially trucks, are going to turn. When they don't turn, they get a surprise. Not the first accident there. By the way, that area is mid state, across the river from Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge- just south of Goldendale, Wa.
Damn dude that trailer almost swung and took you out. Had you been just a little bit closer you may not have survived to post this. Jesus fuck man, crazy video.
Wow. I have been at that same turn-off the Hwy 97 South, I don't know how many times while on my way to Portland. Same story pulling a 53 dry van in my case. But never having something like that happen. This dash-cam driver should have pulled up to block the northbound 97 truck, not wait back. Sometimes you think you are being a nice guy by waiting back to let someone in as in the case of this dash-cam driver obviously did but it is the dumbest thing that you can do. What I am saying is when you do this, you think you are helping someone in their drive but you are actually interfering with their intended purpose. He should have pulled up where the green car turned waiting his turn to go left down Hwy 97 but didn't. As a result he more or less helped cause this accident. Hwy 14 traffic had the right of way, not Hwy 97 at this intersection. Hwy 97 northbound has to wait for Hwy 14 to be clear. You might argue with my logic but I have over 2 million miles safe driving as a professional driver and have been making a living doing this since 1987. I have seen this happen before when someone attempts to help another driver enter a roadway or intersection. I do have to add that this is a very dangerous intersection that can be very busy with traffic, but the best decision is to wait until it is all clear then proceed. Again, let others drive their own path and don't try to think for them. That way it is safer for all of us. I'm sure Daniel will argue that he did no wrong and I don't know what I am talking about. The ultimate blame was with the northbound truck that was hit.
The lack of humility is alarming. Camera boy could have been flattened like a bug. And he is pissed. Instead of rendering aid, he is looking at his rig. What a jagoff.
Great video. But like I I said to the pastor at my wedding "skip to the end" 5:30 so you can understand what that driver was doing. He thought you were letting him go ahead.
Not only did the bad driver turn left when it wasn't safe to do so, he had stopped well over the stop line and (more importantly) drove into the far lane where his tractor could have been hit from the right. He could have gotten hit from both the left and the right.
It does seem like the green car at 5:50 sure did take their good ol' time to turn left which could have given the trucker a valuable second or two to possibly make the turn avoiding the collision. It would have been close still.
@7:23 guys got a motorhome, towing an SUV with a buggy in the back......I guess he lost his boat somewhere.....

Wal-Mart must have seen it in his mirror and flipped a U'y to come back I see the carnage I'm surprised the tandems stayed attached, took a direct blow
