Just for the record, in real cdl training, using the parking break is recommended if you have any doubt about you or your trucks ability to take off up hill, since it could actually result in killing someone if you do.
It's from a different bloody country. No one is questioning the status of your three saints. Now kindly go back to reading the daily mail and whining about immigrants.
This is a no-brainer. I started driving trucks in 2000. Even then, there was a built in delay on the brakes being released after you took your foot off the pedal, combined with an automatic throttle up when a load was detected on the transmission so that you wouldn't roll back on a hill start. The only time you rolled back was if you took your foot off the brake but didn't let the clutch out. Also, for those of you who have never driven one of these vehicles, when you are stopped at a traffic light or stop sign, you're only pushing the clutch in about 1/2 inch.
When I was learning to drive a semi, we had to start off with a trailer with 37,000 pounds of scrap paper on pallets in it and on a hill with a 4% grade. And it was done on the third day of our training. If you rolled backwards it wasn't good, because you were on a city street.
Why is that using parking brake during hill start counts as cheating? Coz in HK when we take our driving test we are required to use the parking brake.
+T Hud It's wayyy safer to use the handbrake, (Parking brake) during hill starts - not always necessary but useful on most occasions. And does 'we' mean Americans?
@@Senkino5o On a regular car, this sort of hopping occurs when there's not enough throttle and the clutch is released too fast, but how does itwork on trucks?
It probably is for someone who’s not used to driving large trucks. That’s like saying flying an airplane isn’t hard if it’s your job. Most people wouldn’t know how to do it unless it is their job.
1 you don't use the trolley bar for anything other than to tug test your trailer, 2 i feel sorry for the Peterblit 3 i could have done that so much better 4 if you push the clutch all the way down theres this thing called a clutch brake that stops it from spinning so you wont grind the gears
Did any body notice the first guy never released his tractor parking brake. Red is trailer. Yellow is truck. You have to separately press them both in to release the parking brakes. The first guy only ever depressed the red button meaning his trailer brakes were released but his truck brakes was still on. It is not uncommon for truck to be able to take off with the parking brake on.
Hold the air brakes and slowly release the clutch, then when the torque starts to pull the rig slowly release the air brakes and put on the throttle. Easy.
***** the reason it is compared so much is because they didnt bother to change ANYTHING at all on the chalenges series.its just like watching a bad version of the british one.
they're still relatively new. Give them a few more seasons and hopefully they'll break into TV better and get more comfortable. No doubt Jezza, Hamster, and May have amazing chemistry, but Top Gear US isn't that bad.
Hill start with a truck is easy, doesnt need any gas to move. Just release clutch slowly and when you feel the truck is about to move, release the brake slowly
***** ITS STILL ENTERTAINING!! If you found somthing funny and amusing, but then you found out its baised on somthing else, would you just be like "COPYING" and be non shalaunt about it
Extreme Tutorials Yeah, I know, I enjoyed both of them, but i think the UK version is better. lemkelegion Yes, I know, that's just a fact that i stated out. Aaronaitor Well... At least a bit of variation. Excluding the vehicles. Giantsasquatch_GamingHD 14 I bet they can choose what to do, IMO.
Not bad, I think Rutledge has a CDL, he's just a little bit Rusty on that take off. 15 degrees grade in a 80,000 lb truck and trailer is not easy to handle. If you ever get the chance to drive a semi truck whether it's got a trailer on it or not, go for it, that heavy and Powerful, it's the real deal when it comes to brute power. Can't go a tick over 2200 RPMs, but with 1500 to 2000 foot pounds of torque oh, you don't need to.
also I'm just going to add with a fully loaded trailer you dont need to use the gas at all the first gear is so low you can get moving on a hill without the gas. I have my class a and have been driving trucks for years. the entire drama behind backing over the stuff is bullshit.
