Allure is such a great product. Absolutely fun to rip. Series 2 prices are just dumb. Everyone will have a Bedard, so mass produced. Can't find O Pee Chee on the shelves here too.

I’m on your side man! I got my o-pee-chee when it was 99$ a box. I couldn’t imagine paying double! The whole 23-24 year is gonna look like that sadly… lots of non collectors buying trying to make a Bedard buck… many good cards will be ignored cause they aren’t Bedard and people don’t know what they’ve got I would say… tucked in a closet for years

I paid $263 taxes in. About 83 too much. No Bedard at all. But hit 2 clear. I agree, way too much to spend. But per card I'd makey money back then some. But...I agree. Allure is the way to go. I hit a Vasi auto from 22-23.

Totally agree with you that the hobby should be focused on all collectors and not just the shit heads out to make profit, causing these ridiculous price hikes. I managed to grab two tins of series two and since then there has been nothing. Great break with Allure, one of my favorites for sure

The price of Series 2 is out of control because of the million dollar bounty on the gold Bedard....once that is pulled... you'll see demand, especially from non hockey people, go down by a LOT!

The markets are 100% driven by demand. The demand for the Bedard YG was off the charts, so the price for the box/case was going to reflect that. Throw into the mix the 1/1 still hasn’t surfaced and repackers are paying near 100% comps, prices of a box nor the case are going down anytime soon. I’m a 150% dealer, do not collect. I was drawn into the hockey market, because it’s driven by collectors and it will always be. Once the Bedard dust settles, the influencers and breakers will move back into their space, because they will never be able to relate or understand the hockey community.

I'm a dirty Free Market Capitalist pig at heart. It's profiteering I have an issue with. You can't make me believe for a second that there is more demand for a box of 2023-24 UD Series 2 than the supply can deliver. LCS owners and Distributors are cashing in. Large online retailers like Dave & Adams and CloutsnChara have manipulated the prices with clever "Act Now!" advertising. Maybe I'm wrong. But, I don't think I am.

Nice I was thinking of getting some allure hobby. I'm done with series 2 didn't get his young guns. I've seen some on eBay for 450$ cad. I'm probably just going to buy it when it hits 300$ cad if it ever does.

It has to come down. I can't imagine it staying at that price forever. I think if you go back and look at just about any Young Guns, you'll see that they start to drop off at around 6 months.

Flagship at $300+ a box is detrimental to the hobby and that's a fact Jack. We need the younger generation to get into this hobby to help it sustain and grow as you said. There is way too many other this competing for a 12 year olds allowance like video games, phones, Magic and Pokemon and all the other crap out there. Growing up in the 1970s so man y kids spent their cash on cards as Atari was still in its infancy unlike now. To expect a kid, or hell even a working adult like myself to spend $300 on the cheapest set that is still quality is absurd. Its bad enough the middle of the road stuff is that price, In the end its going to screw this hobby. Lets face it, hockey has a hard enough time competing with baseball, football, basketball and hell even soccer and wrestling, but to be talk hundreds of dollars for boxes is insane. $180 for OPC paper! C'mon man. IMO Glass Jaw is the worst thing that's happened to this hobby period. I know he's bringing in new fans but at what cost. Rant done. For now lol.

@justhockeycards We will definitely save a few bucks. I think 2024-2025 will be a lot different. Hopefully, some other brands rather than Upper Deck will enter the Hockey card game.

jean-luc bedard's video introduced me to a great article about why the prices are high, on Sports Collectors Daily. It's really just basic economics, everyone's desire for Bedard is causing it: demand 101. Blaming Bedard himself in any capacity is totally absurd ha. He could exist as he is, and all of US could have a different attitude towards the hobby, and not have to deal with these prices. Surely tons of the demand is coming from people trying to make a buck off flipping his cards - THAT is the problem, not Bedard. Things people want badly become expensive. "At what cost"?? Really? You'd prefer to forgo 20+ years of a crosby-level generational talent playing real life hockey, so that you can pay less for hockey cards for one year? I'm sorry, but as much as I love collecting, I can't think of anything LESS essential than hockey cards. Think you need a bit of perspective, lol. This is a "cut your losses" if you can't afford it scenario, you will survive. As if Bedard even knows this is happening or cares, lol. Just buy older years like our friend in this video. It's really not that serious. Also, weird point to make about the price of hockey cards driving people away. You do know those other sports you listed are like, 5x more expensive right? I'm grateful it's hockey I love, and the drama is around $300 and box and not $700 a box for entry level products, like in the other major sports. "Rant done".
