Yeah!!! Smallies on tiny tackle is what I've been up to for the last 2 years. I'm swinging streamers/buggers with a 7'6" glass 3wt and the Wychwood river and stream clicker reel. A 3 pounder brings the tip to the handle!!! So. Much. Fun!!!
Frick man this spot is insane. I just got a 7wt for smallies here in MO hoping to throw bigger stuff, and here you show how it's done with a 2 WEIGHT!!! In a river! Man, mad props.
Another great vid man. I swear, the past 2 years we have been seeing all sorts of bass fishermen getting into the BFS stuff bc they FINALLY realized how awesome it is to catch big fish on light tackle. Fly guys have BEEN KNOW'N SON! I'm gonna have to check out that fry pattern... I love throwing tiny Clousers when the water is low like that. Like size 6 with x-small eyes. Those sub 4 weight rods make it so much more fun! Dinks be damned- when flows are down, you gotta take what you can get, and light tackle really facilitates every aspect of that.
Bro that was sick AF!! Especially on the 2WT!! I fish a 2 most of the time but for smallies I’d have a bigger stick just because especially on those toads!!!! Killer!!
Looking forward to seeing your video. On a side note..I’ve unhooked about a dozen snagged flies lately using your Roll cast suggestion, really appreciate that! 👍👌 Thanks as always🎣
Gunnar mad props dude,have fished then with a 8' 5 weight & was a blast,but 2 weight 🤯,now got me stocked to break out my 3 weight 8 footer & give it a go,tight lines & bent rods 🤘
So many people loose fishing trying to "get them on the reel" they need to watch this guys see how its done. Hand strip then hand line them bad bois in!!
Sweet! Was actually catching some 2-3lb largemouth on my 3wt when this videos notification rang this evening. Finally got to check it out.👍🎣 Look forward to The Bug! Thanks in advance.
I can't say I've got a 2 wt but I do have, I think, 3 3wt rods, a 2 piece, a 4 piece pack (motorcycle) rod and a 1 piece. I'll have to give them a try on some smallies. Keep the good stuff coming.
What’s your leader setup for 2Wt. I see you used a two piece w/ invisaswivel with your bigger smallie rig, similar concept here? If so what butt thickness?
Gunnar "really" your energy & enthusiasm is out of the park, awesome video, love fishing ultra light (3 wt) for most of my trout & warm water species, dude you need a net lol 😆 what fly are you using ? keep it up my friend, tight lines & bent rods 🤟🤙
Man, you got me in trouble, this last 2 weeks I ordered 2 mojo trout rods....I'm enjoying your channel and learning a lot. Watching your video about the Amazon was really nice too, I'm Brazilian and I grew up catching Tucunaré.
@@permitfisher get a map from south America, make a horizontal line on the top of Paraguay and one right under Uruguay ,between that 2 lines is gonna be your best try.
Man I throw my 4wt st croix in the same situation and feel like thats insanely low. I can't fathom how much fun a 2wt is. I actually have the same rod but in 4wt and LOVE it. Very responsive and so much fun to use. I was going for smallies a few weeks back and hooked a 20in pike and felt on top of the world fighting that thing
The trout spey guys should take note! You don’t have to harass browns in the middle of summer heat. Also, pretty damn hard fight for a lazy summer day, wouldn’t you say?
Who wants to catch a sucker Over good smallies?? Lol😂..either way cool video ..I just got into fly fishing and I'm learning a little at a time ..I'm already a pretty well rounded angler but new to fly fishing ..I'm catching fish but nothing with much size yet ..trying to figure out what to use for my local rivers and streams
