Yahoo, Spyder school..! I have suffered the parking brake drama, BRP did replace the motor for me, but someone raised the question of the parking cable tension on a recent blog and got me thinking... just in time for you to answer the question! I'll continue to carry the wrenches, just in case, but I learned that it will usually work itself out in time, just quit pressing the button! Always start the engine before releasing the parking brake. I love Smoaks' school! Thanks... and be safe, you two...

I do the lift on the Wife's 2014 Spyder just as you do. Makes me feel good to know I got it right. Great information. Always cool to learn about how you do things. Now don't want to hurt your feelings but we really always enjoy Kelly. PS the dogs were wanting you both to get out of the 🚚

@1990 Hi mate, no problems! Don't sweat about the brake, like Shawn said if you're ever out on the road & it happens ... Just disconnect the cable so you can get home! Actually I haven't had any complaints so far whatsoever ... Can-Am Rocks! 👍😁🤟

Hi Shawn. I love all your Spyder videos - they are so informative. Could I point out that you made a mistake at 2m15s where you say "come in from the right side"? You mean "come in from the LEFT side" surely? At 9m27s you correctly say to not use a motorcycle jack on the RIGHT side.

You are a real mechanical engineering repair man, a true professional, your boss should have the brains to pay you well, Can Am is also lucky you are around. We have 2 spyders his and hers, we are disappointed with their dealers and the ridiculous costs of having one, although the Ryker seems to be more reasonable

Great Talk! I wish I had that info when I had the Spyder. Now i'd love to see the same lift advice on an F-850GSA or 1250GSA! Have you seen any issues with the 850s? (won't matter to me as I already bought one!)

I have a 2019 Spyder RT. Lost the spring on the park brake. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Don’t know what spring is needed. Parts house and BRP keep trying to give me a front spring. Any idea size or part number on the spring? Loved the description in your video.

Shawn I have a situation that if you can’t diagnose NOBODY CAN because you Sir are the best! Sometimes I smell a burning smell from the back of my 2021 Spyder F3 during and after a ride. Took all the side panels off and let it run for about 30min and smelled nothing. I believe it’s drive related but I’m for sure no expert. My bike only has 8k miles and I’m totally baffled. I checked the belt and belt tensioner and they are good with no wear. Could this be a bad rear wheel bearing??

Great info on the park brake! My wife’s F3s has done this since new, won’t release about half the time. Was going to take it in and let the dealer fix over the winter but I wonder if it could have been misadjusted from the factory? Got around 1,000 miles on it and has done it since day one. What do you think?

Hi Darly, The issue with my wife’s Spyder was repaired when the dealer replaced the parking brake motor itself. A common failure on the 2018 (and others I’ve heard). Clearing/resetting things does nothing except maybe putting off the problem and giving you the illusion the dealer has done something for you. Time to try a different dealer maybe?

After the doing the brake adjustment. Does the end parking brake block move side to side regardless if the parking brake is engaged or not?

You talk about using motorcycle lifts, maybe you could talk the boss into investing in a lift that Spyders will actually fit on. Instead of hanging off both sides and right at the edge with the rear tire. Speaking of which, what did you deduce about that rear car tire?...

The black lift I have is my Spyder lift that they got me years ago, I just don’t use it all the time. I purposely roll the Spyder back a couple feet so that the rear tire is at the edge. Makes servicing the belt much easier... Thanks Jim!

Hi. SmoaksViogs. Sorry that I don't explain myself well. Regarding the problem with my 2011 Spyder RT Roadster SE5. I'll try to be more specific with the problem. The engine has not lost power, I notice that it runs normally, what I wanted to explain is that the MPH is not marking the miles in real time, and it is seen that it is late, and I think that because of that problem it does not allow me to do the change until it reaches 4,500 RPM. which is not normal. And what I understand is that everything works in conjunction with the computer. If it is not a problem for you, I can make a video of the problem that is happening, so that you can understand it more clearly. Let me know if you agree, excuse me for insisting so much. If she’s not taking long rides, the Ryker is super fun. On the Spyder side, any of the F3 models, as you can adjust it to fit her like a Ryker, and they’re sporty & fun... Thanks Gilbert!!

Just saw this video. Took my 2021 F3T to the shop before checking the brake motor pulley. Would this also be the cause of not coming out of reverse to neutral or 1st. Had no parking brake with light blinking.

My 2013 rt has a similar issue. It doesn't seem to want to switch out of neutral or reverse, then eventually will change. Does anyone else have this issue or any rhoughts?

Hi.TheSmoaks Vlogs. I am an animal lover, especially canines. I hope to send greetings to you and yours. I have a question regarding my 2011 Can-Am Spyder RT roadster SE5. Last year 2021 was driving very well, but this year I noticed something unusual, that when I started driving I don't know that, to change from 1 to 2 to 5, the revolutions go up to 4,500 RPM, and I also noticed that the MPH goes up slowly and it doesn't go over 25 MPH. I'm not sure if this problem has to do with the speed sensor. Could you explain to me what this problem would be? Thank you.

What you're describing sounds like a throttle body failure... You'll need to have a dealer connect it to BUDS Diagnostics and see if there inactive or active "P1614" fault code in the system. If so, the throttle body assembly will need replacing. BRP announced a Throttle Body Rebuild program for dealers last year, but I don't know the details. My guess is that the 990 throttle bodies are no longer available, but again, I haven't looked into the details... Sorry that you're having issues! Thanks Rafael!!
