lets say you want to sell hay to somone that have 1 horse and that have just a tiny car to transport hay with.. + 1 horse eat around 20 pound hay a day,, if you gave it a bale of 2000 pounds it might eat itself to death,, ore most likely destroy most of the bale by trampling-shitting-peeing on it hehe,, many people feeding dry hay to horses soak the hay in water before feeding to the horse becouse of dust. but if you soak a 2000 pound bale, it will mold before the horse eat half of that hay
The feedlots back home used them to make it easier to mix rations for cattle. The slices are ground much quicker than whole bales especially if mixed with any molasses or silage.
lets say you have a big farmer ore-and hay produser that have extra hay that they want to sell to people that have say 1-2 horses that dont have somthing that can lift a 1000-2000 pound bale theyalmost gladly pay a little extra a pound for smaller bales they can handle by hand and transport say in the backseat of their car, at my local petshop farmerstore, they sell bags down to 2 pound hay to people that have say a little pet rabbit in a flat. but they have bales in many sizes---- 2-5-10-20-40 pounds and so on up to those monster bales you see in this video,,, those small bales are usually made at a small factory in a barn,, not by balers in the field. hehe
