Fun sitting here by the fire at home watching you guys. I have worn out, not "damaged" out 3 sets of Silvey jacks and never once purposely put in an undercut before a jack seat. Many times the back lean was so bad that it would have been impossible to do the seat last. But everything worked out just fine for you. Nothing more than an observation from an old faller. That's all.
These were not bad learners at all just trying not to beat our guts out if we don’t have too Most of those prolly didn’t need a jack at all but you know how it go’s as soon as you think “oh this one ain’t leaning too bad” and you don’t put the jack in that’s the one that ends up tricking ya 😆 You are right on the hard leaners we do put the seat in first too 👍thanks for watching enjoy that fire 👌
I recall stories my father-in-law would tell about the first chain saw that came into the woods, with a stinger. He and his friend cut down one of the largest fir trees in oregon over by kings valley. Hard work and great men helped build Oregon. Enjoyed your video and watch the saw work that Garrett is doing. Thank you.
Gordy, I believe that you should look into making your own lightweight chainsaw bars, at least a prototype. Then do your cost analysis a figure out where you could realistically streamline it to be affordable for you and your customers both. It might be more hassle than it’s worth, but think about it regardless.
It would be cool, but even Husky has Sugi Hari make theirs for them, so I’m guessing it’s prohibitively expensive to get into. But worth a shot. I just bought a 500i kit and some other goodies from Geordie. Thanks.
Walkers pretty well nailed there's. Cheaper than everybody, more rigid than stihl, lighter than sugi. Stock tips aren't great but they take oregon tips so that's another win
It’s weird watching people I know on tv even if it is just RU-vid. I cut with Garrett in 2020 only for a month as I was just up to visit but he’s a top hand that’s for sure. One of the best
Great job and Unbelievable talent. Falling can be dangerous. But you guys do it right and safe., I like to look at the 066 better than a 661, 066, looks more like my Stihl, MS 460, all great saws, thanks for the video,
Love the videos, dam i wish i was in timber like that we dont get anything like that in the uk 😢 i would love to spend a few days with you lads just to see how you do it and Experience it some big timber fall
I picked up the 28t jack after watching your previous video on how to jack a tree over. I love it, i use it for my own property, big east coast hardwoods, even at 28t, ive never had a tree it couldnt push ober
West, and Guilty, vetran, tall, are my favorite channels to watch!! Gordie, id love a custom built saw by you! Sorry if a spelt your name wrong. Cheers all of you! Much love from the Croziers From Maine.
Where's Mike 😆 Nice video Gordy ! Wondering did the first rotten one break when it went down and is there any profit in them or is it just part of the job. thanks
Gordy, what pants/chaps are you guys wearing usually? I think you've talked about it in a gear video but I can't recollect. Curious about what kind Garrett has on too.
Hi Gordy! I enjoy your videos a tonne load, great sawyer Garrett is. Wierd question I got all the way from Nairobi, Kenya. What ever happened to Jack of Hotsaws101 (a channel much like yours)?, I have learned plenty from both channels. Would be sweet to watch Garret & Anton cutting, both pros with saws.
Is thst saw rapping out to high? I seriously dont know.. just sounds scary.. i run a 660 and it i was that high of rpms i would be letting off or get more load on it to slow it down a little.. i understand its ported snd whatnot but still.. ? Love these videos.. wish you had more of them. Seen them all.. 😊
I’m surprised you all weren’t using the technique I saw you using earlier this year: cutting some of the bark off the top before you cut the log off to keep it from splintering. I think you were cutting a bunch of red wood trees with someone. Just wondering?
Could you count some rings from time to time to give us an idea when we’re looking at second growth vs third? I’m guessing that tree was 110 years old?
When you were talking about wanting to jack that tree over and against its lean but not having enough lift, I got an idea: Jack up far enough to double or triple stack some wedges in the back cut. (whichever you feel comfortable with) Then bleed out the jack, letting the tree sit on the wedges. Cut a NEW jack seat taking advantage of the extra ~2-3 inches of lift already established, then continue jacking. Seems like a way to lift a tree 6 inches with a 4-inch-lift jack. *Disclaimer-I have never jacked a single tree in my life
I’d like to see WCS design a Husqvarna muffler back half that would accept a Bark Box front piece similar to the Stihl system? Dumb idea?🤷♂️. How about some type of a shrink wrap faller axe over swing protection for their sweet handles?
Do you guys have any trees left in your country,i wonder if there's going to be any trees left to produce Air in the world anymore and clean the planets atmosphere.
