Toronto Blue Jays news is once again starting to fill up with some big time trade rumors. After breaking his wrist, the Dodgers have just lost their super star short stop Mookie Betts. Now the Dodgers are looking to the trade market, specifically the Toronto Blue Jays and Bo Bichette for a new replacement. Does this trade make sense for the Toronto Blue Jays, or is there another trade out there that the Blue Jays can pursue involving Chris Bassitt?

They need to do something in the lineup because it’s just not working. I’ve watched all the games on TV and about a dozen games in person this year and to me, Bo hasn’t been playing like he’s very interested in being part of the team! The likelihood of keeping both Vlad and Bo are slim so pick one and move forward.

Simple... Hire Click as in-term prez (he's built a winner) and hire NG for the rebuild- she's smart. If you traded Bo, Vlad, IKF, Jansen, Bassit, Kikuchi, García NOW. You'd have a top 3 farm overnight and be ready to compete in 1-2 years. Fans always think re-builds take 3-5 years...they don't. *Everyone forgets Berríos has an op-out in 2 years. You think he's staying? You could get a king's ransom for his NOW.

Lisa's husband, Andy here. You guys are right, although Bo is a popular and good player, like Biggio, it doesn't seem like his heart is in it this year. A trade to LA will be good for him as he will get a crack at the big time, but for the Jays it might enable the club to get some hungry, enthusiastic, fringe players from the Dodgers who DO want to play. It will also free up the purse strings a bit. I think the Jays will risk this season getting a bit toxic with the fan base and then bring in some more 'marquee' signings in the off season. Sadly just like football (soccer) here in England, the big clubs 'cherry pick' the best players. What teams like the Blue Jays (and lesser known soccer teams here) need is hard, hungry players who want to run through brick wall to get to the top. It's no coincidence that the guys that have stepped up from Buffalo have led the charge of the better things this term. 👍

I agree, Bo would probably rebound back to his old form if he was traded to the Dodgers I would still be very open to a trade though. I would way rather keep Vladdy. Even though his production is down year after year he’s still a top 1B player in AL. He’s hitting well now and will probably hit better if we put two other big bats around him (like 2021). Also he seems happy in Toronto, much happier than Bo.

I don't think Bo will sign long term with the Jays - I think he's checked out. I'd trade him for a haul of prospects and slide IKF into the SS position immediately.... and I'd like to see about getting them to eat Springers contract in the process. Then they can sign Vladdy if that's the 'star' they want to go all in on... Though I would trade Vladdy as well for another haul of prospects to rebuild that farm system.

You're probably right about the low probability of the Bo to the Dodgers trade. I think though they SHOULD make that trade. And that should be to stock up on prospects to compensate for the big-time prospects they should be spending to definitely trade for Luis Robert!

The major problem with all these trade proposals is they lack a major need in the next couple seasons... beside the lack of depth in the system over all they have zero catching depth in the uper minors. If I'm trading Bo i need a catcher in return as well as pitching.

Why would you want a catcher ? We have Jansen and Kirk is decent backup .. we need offence we need a big bat who can drive in runs and hit home runs

@@Redz1991 this team isn't going anywhere this year, Jansen is a free agent after this year and Kirk is the awful as a starting catcher. At this point anyone who's healthy with one year of control should be traded for the future.

Atkins kinda has to say there is no interest in trading Bo or Vlad by default in order to not create worries for players. It's nice to know your job is secure and that your boss isn't shopping you around all of the time. I envisioned Bo wearing a dodgers uniform during the offseason. He would be a fit there. If the Dodgers are making offers then there is a good chance other teams are as well.

I feel bad for Bassitt. The guy pitches well and doesn't get run support. Jays would be worse off without him. Hopefully more run support in the future.

I wish they would trade their core for prospects, re-tool the minor leagues and trade the lesser value players having a good year for players with team control friendly contracts. The players they have now are not playoff material. Time to break it up, start over with a goal to be competitors in 2028.

it is interesting that Bo has sat out the last three games and we didn't really miss him.... defensively IKF is at least as good if not a better infielder than Bo.....so his value is his hitting....and he isn't hitting.....given that I say move him.....especially if the Dodgers are offering lots because of their situation

@@jordanmacauley9422 I just don't see a Bo trade for what's in the dodgers farm system. The only way logically he's traded is if there's a massive amount of talent coming back. Remember Bo is part of the core to trade him would set off a 3 plus year rebuild. That's not how the Jays do things.

agree 100% I have been saying same thing. As a Fan I want a fun team first and foremost, then a team that performs well. Obviously we all want both, but taking the fun out of the team made only 1 person happy and that was Bo, as much as I loved the guy , Bo has to go! Keep the Jacket, bring the young blood, make the team fun again to watch and let them enjoy some fun when they perform well. We arent the damn Yankees and I dont know if any jays fan wants that.

The starting pitchers the Blue Jays locked in past 2024 were signed before salaries ballooned. They're a bargain for starting pitching, if those pitchers continue to eat innings with quality performance. If they get traded, expect a massive rebuild and several years of not competing at all, as the Jays build their farm system and load up for the future.

Most of the trade rumors are just media needing to create content, and fans who love to speculate about everything. Teams will be putting phone calls in to other teams, just to express interest. That greases the wheel if a team decides to bow out of playoff contention. I wouldn't take any rumors or speculation at face value. I remember all of the rumors in 2021 about the Jays looking to trade for J-Ram and Rich-Rod at the deadline. Cleveland ended up keeping and extending J-Ram, and Rich-Rod disappeared into oblivion.

Put Bo back in the second batting spot and watch it all turn around - he's been batting there past two seasons. The Dodger package is laughable - a 19 year old unproven, a 27 year old starter who's never made the bigs, and a light hitting 24 year old ss who's never made the bigs. Make the Guardians deal, Bassitt sucks! Give us two prospects, Guards #7 in Chantillio

If we are trading Bassist to a team like the Indians, we are likely going to have to take on most of the money too. That should actually increase the prospect value. Perhaps we could do the same for LA. They are over 100% tax, so any savings could be useful. Maybe we can grab a better prospect or two by just paying Bo's affordable contract for next year as well. If they are going to rebuild, it doesn't mean they need to be cheap about it, especially if they can get better talent.

Vladdy and Bo's swing at the plate is just plain aweful. Chasing low outside pitches every at bat at this level is not acceptable. Vladdy is pulling off the ball and his eyes are actually closed on every swing and not being interested in changing is basically stealing his salary.
