It may be called a t78 but its a 65mm turbo hahah (measured by the turbine exducer). A 78mm turbo is enormous! Thats like a GT4508 size. 65mm is a great size for a 3L engine, and not being an antiquated turbine design is probably why its not as laggy as you think. The stock ct26 turbine is utter garbage and very restrictive. Gotta love the 7M, just about to start rebuilding mine after melting a stock piston
But you get boost at 1500 rpm with the ct26 because the turbine is so small. the only thing i dont like about it is the long time it takes to spool when you rev up. Like if you stay on the rpm like uphill its all good but not at accelerating
I just wanna know how you’re not hitting fuel cut! I had a bigger turbo on my 7m with stock ecu, and it hit fuel cut alllll the time.. Car sounds good !
Hey, Just a heads up that if your fuse isn't making proper contact or is melting instead of tripping, you may need to tear the interior fuse box apart. My 1988 supra had a couple broken fuse terminals inside it that prevented the fuse from making proper contact. It ended up melting a fuse which is why I found that out. Luckily its easy to pull apart and swap the bad terminals to good ones since there should be 2 unused fuse positions ( 4 terminals) and its just a female to female terminal. Its a pain in the butt to get out though. I was able to look inside the fusebox at the terminal before pulling it out so you may want to see if that fuse has a cracked or broken terminal before pulling it. Hope its a quick fix for you.
Whats transmission is this the W58 Transmission or does turbo models come with the R154 transmission? 7k rev-limiter is cool. Heard the 1jz revs high too
The turbos had a r154 and this one had that in it. The non turbo supras had w58. So did the na mk4 and the sc300/is300s. The 1jz goes a bit higher in rpm and sounds better imo
@@buildonemore thats dope. Eventually gonna sell my car and get into a MK3. Before my dad passed he loved Toyotas. After I get one I want to honor him by getting his name engraved somewhere in the car. I heard the R154 can hold decent power on stock transmission internals? The 1jz does sound smooth for sure though
@@TheMrFlyBoy18They can, however, with them being 30+ year old units the synchros are most likely worn. Driftmotion and Marlin Crawler make a good rebuild kit and you can send the trans to them for a complete rebuild if you aren’t a DIYer :)
