This is a install video for installing a new cam into a Harley Davidson big twin 96 or 103.
Please do research on what cam to use based on your own personal riding style and were you play at.
another factor to consider is rocker noise when selecting the rite cam a more aggressive cam will create more noise.
items were purchased from FuelMoto I suggest if you have not purchased a power vision yet getting it from them. If you purchase from them they give you tune support.

Thank you the tw222 is a great cam as well it all depends on your plans were you are wanting to go. If your wanting to go to the 103 the 222 makes great power with that as well.

thank you I didn't use a push rod cover tool in the video and it made it a pain. They sell them on amazon for about 15 bucks they are worth it. if your installing new tappets make sure to pump them up if they are new and allow at least 30 minutes after installing and adjusting push rods before you turn over to do the next side.

That's pretty much the setup I have been running from FuelMoto for 10 years...no complaints here. I do have their cross flow headers and jackpot mufflers.

Hope it went well. The difference a cam makes is night and day. The only problem for me is that once I get more power, it only leaves me wanting even more after the honeymoon phase.

I put woods brothers tw 222- night prowler cams in my 103 torque Omg. Don't forget to change out cam tensioner . 2012 ultra classic. I have 77k on my bike.

I inspected the tensioners. The bike only has around 4k miles on it so they still look brand new. I figured by the time I get back into it to do an oil upgrade probably by end of riding year comming up I will change with the pump.

Good video and lots of patience, a paper clip and rubber band would of helped you keep the push rod covers out of your way. Ride safe.

Just some positive criticism from learning experiences. I cringed when you banged the cam tool into the Ina bearings. Great way to break them and have to disassemble your entire motor. Next time just bend the tool arms inward with a wrench and it will slide into the bearing. Never trust the stock cam spacer with new cams, there can't be more than .010 of clearance. I hope that was red locktite on the cam bolts!

on the end of the tool used for extraction and install of the bearings it is cylinder with slots cut in it if you bend the ends in slightly it will reduce the risk of having the bearings fall apart and fall into the bottom of the case. The tool is the extracting tool fuel moto and many others sell them they are all the same.

i seen you recommend having the o ring for the scavenge port spigot on the spigot itself instead of in the case bore. i seen online the oposite is that stil your prefered methiod

If you put it on the other way it has a higher posability of the spigot folding the o ring into the hole in the case bore

It is a 96 reason choosing the tw555 is because of future upgrades going to complement well with the cam. I could of went for an even more aggressive cam but it would of taken away from the experience while it is still a 96

Been thinking of doing this on my 96. However I don’t have even a stage 1 yet. Can you just replace the cams without a stage 1 or having a programmer? I’m assuming I would at least have to reprogram it? Sorry first real bike and have only changed the oils in it.

Yes you can change the cams without changing intake and exhaust your just not getting the full potential without them. Also if you go for a cam that is more aggressive without supporting upgrades it will be alot more leggy on the bottom end.

Looks like the timing dots are not at their closest for the rear to be on TDC to cut the rods... so does that method of using the dots work?

Yes, it does I found that using the dots is more precise, especially for adjusting the rods. For cutting the rods its optimal to have it direct on TDC so they don't shoot across the room but doesn't have to be perfect on it so I just use the typical method of telling TDC by watching the push rods when rolling over the engine.

I use that method but also try to spin the pushrods by hand as a double check If u can spin them, they are are on the base circle and ok to cut

Always faster fuel milage is of no concern as long as it gets to the next gas station. It's all about the smiles per gallon.

@@alaskagarage sorry but you incorrect! The speed limits are not increasing? The laws have not changed? It will always be endurance an mileage! Always! You can't ride if your out of gas 50 miles short of gas station. An your not having fun sitting in jail cell for wreck less driving an speeding! You won't be having fun if you kill someone or your dead! It's always about endurance, getting to where you want to go in one piece!

When draining the oil I did open the fill cap what I was trying to show was a way to check your rocker box breathers to see if pulling your rocker box covers was even necessary. If when draining the oil with the fill cap on oil rushes out without slowing to a small stream it is a indicator that the rubber for your breather is compromised.
