I just had my 86 Z28 305 TPI swapped over to a carburetor and now it is so much more reliable and dependable and runs so much better.

I learned to drive and got drivers license in the family 57 Chevy bel-air in 1967, a lot of drive inn theaters on Friday nights. Still love the 57.

I like the new air cleaner, and I like the position you have it in now. As far as the valve covers, your current ribbed aluminum are more classic than the painted red ones with them bright on them. As a side thought, I've never been particularly fond of the 57 Chevys, my favorites being the 56 pillar sedans. But your example is really nice. Somebody did it right.

Take the viper home. It's a complete vehicle. If you gotta pick something substantial up. The Bel-Air. Love the content! I'm glad you haven't retired yet.

Hey Randy when I was way younger I had a 55 Chevy and I replaced the seal on my trunk lid and I took the lid off and put it on a couple of saw horses and it was very easy for me to get it done but you really need a second person to get it done to remove and replace the deck lid but upside down on the saw horses it makes it very easy but just remember to put a heavy blanket on them before you do it and you will not damage the paint Charlie kretschmar Phoenix Arizona

The 57 is looking good and yes on the valve covers they will look better than the one's that are on it now

The gears with more teeth will slow down the speedometer. You might want to slide the cable out and grease it while you are working on it. You need to add a side motor mount kit as the mounts at the front of the engine are the type that are used with the bell housings that have side mounts. Those existing front mounts allow the engine to twist too much, and there is less vibration with the side mounts.

Every car man’s dream a beautiful 57. My brother picked up a straight ( need refurbished) four door. Original v8 but not original trans. Runs and drives though. He bought it cause he only gave couple grand for it

That car looks SOOOO GOOD ! It was nice when you got it, but you put the perfect tires and wheels on it, and now it's a totally different car... Don't forget to set the air / fuel on the new carb. I agree with you about the LS engines. No doubt they have some great benefits, but I'm 62 years old and all my life I have had BB and SB Chevy engines with carburetors on them, and I had some fast cars over the years. The only exception was my injected winged sprint car. It had Hilborn injection on it, but that is totally different than the new stuff. I'm an idiot when it comes to computers and electronics, so if I was to ever have an LS, I would put a carburetor on it... If it was mine, I would take the door panels to an upholstery shop and just have them put new backing on the panels. I like the interior that's in it, and it's in good shape other than the backing being warped. That would be a lot cheaper than $800... As far as the rear package tray goes, I would have a new one made and have it perforated where the speakers go, and then mount the speakers underneath so you can't see them.

Randy, I love all the cars on the channel, but i do think if it came down to the 57 or the viper, id take the 57 all day. Moght not have the horsepower, but it does have class. I think its time to bid farewell to the viper, especially if you arent driving it.

Weather strip adhesive u need tape weather strip or whatever ur adhere it takes overnight or 24 hours best to set up I've been using about 30 years use it adhere rubber around old handicap scooter edge

Give me a carburetor engine any day over fuel injection. So easy to diagnose, work on, and fix.

Look up off set round air filter . You can put a round air filter but your bottom plate is off set it will work on your 57.

Hey thanks for the work you do for us. I like the air cleaner. I think it makes sense to save on that kind of stuff. It gets really hot and humid in the DC area. So if it were me the first thing I would spend the big money on is Vintage air. Otherwise it would be uncomfortable for half the year. Love the channel.

Loving your tasteful improvements to this beautiful car. I’m not a fan of aftermarket window tinting for a number of reasons. For one thing they really cut down on your night vision especially with raindrops on the glass.

Randy, I know it seems like a lot more work. But I'd take the trunk lid off to replace the seal. That front side is going to be a bear I think. I'd bet that when you're working on the '57, all the headaches with the Monte are a very distant memory. I think you'll have a great deal of success with the '57 at Power Tour next year.

WOW oh wooooo..eye had a 57 chevy 2 dr hartp 3 speed standard 283 v8 sweet car but that was about 60 yrs ago ..bummerr eye messed up big time cause eye den got a 56 55 chevy's it went to HEll eye started drinking n driving and da rest is history bummmmmer any hoo that's a sweet sounding chevy amigo..ur a bless man of the lord to have a car like that amen peace be unto you im out but GOD is still no. one no monkey business amigo..

Randy, first pull out the speedo plug and gear. Count the number of teeth. Select one with 5 extra teeth. Rule if thumb, one tooth is about 2 MPH. If your speedo error is +10.

I don't know if you ever look at Dylon McCool's website but when he was restoring a Mopar car, he found a company that made a heating/air conditioning unit that fit under the dash and was completely hidden by it, made just for that car. I think even the compressor for the A/C was in it. The only external connections other than the controls were the two heater hoses. Maybe they make something for the Chevy..

I think the current valve covers look better than the ones you're looking at getting. The font is different plus, who cares that it is a Chevrolet. The only point to getting Chevrolet valve covers is so other Chevrolet people can buy them off you.

That would so be my daily driver with air conditioning and 3 point seat belts.

I am starting to wonder if you have already had too much carbon monoxide when you bought a couple cars lately! HAHAHA! Kidding with you! But seriously get out of there or open the doors that gas will fry your brain. That new carb may have too big of idle and/or main jets in it, you might want to run a sniffer in the exhaust to check the air/fuel mixture and check the plugs after driving it for a while. Drive it home and then check them. They should be a lighter side of brown color. The best thing to do is dyno-tune it so they can check the mixture for the entire range. Enjoy! Thanks for sharing you are making me want a tri 5 now. I always liked the 57 best but the 55 and 56 are right in there too. I have my Corvettes and just bought a 4x4 Grand Cherokee Jeep with a Hemi in it, so I have too many cars around here, I need to thin out the herd and then look for more. Enjoy that 57 I will be watching all those videos for a long time that is a beautiful car. The only thing left to do is put a 700r4 in it and enjoy the car like it is. That overdrive will make a world of difference on the road and I think you are going to be doing some road trips in it so get er done and make it really nice with the overdrive, AC, power steering, etc in it. That is one sweet ride, my friend!
