That’s awesome man I love sets like that with great stories behind them. Plus the memory of your dad helping you out. Will definitely be in the keeper pile for life I’d imagine.

I live in Alabama and am about to get a German shepherd for shed hunting whitetail. I know tracker is a Belgian malinois but they are close to the same and was wondering how hard it was to train him. I seen your videos of you doing it but did you follow anyone and use their technique or anything. Love the videos. Hope to make some next year in Alabama. Thanks
@Martin_Chag
@Martin_Chag 4 года назад
Yeah I bet they are pretty similar... I just started small and let him chew and play with small deer antlers as a puppy. Then we would play controlled fetch in a hallway or room to develop the retrieve drive. Then I started hiding them in the house and sending him to search and reward him when he brings them back. And then progress to outside... I didnt really watch anyone in particular. Stoney Dennis is good for general dog training though

@@Martin_Chag Ok thanks buddy. I love the videos man. I wish I had something like this I could do with my dad. Very special moments in the future and I'm sure you'll keep the horns to match the memory. Keep it up man.

You and Eric make my day.....every day 🤠. After i run my trapline i always have a coffee with Martin and Eric...Im a biologist and live and work in the forest and in my 53 years I've only ever found 1 whitetail shed. A small 2 point.

That's every malinois! They have zero off switch. Best thing is to start small and simple in a controlled setting!
@JohnnyRingo406Trapper
@JohnnyRingo406Trapper 4 года назад
She loves antlers, controlled setting is tough cause we have 4 other dogs as well. By far the most observant animal I've ever encountered. Every leaf, bird, sound; it's crazy. And a nose that nothing gets past.

It’s hard to be excited about someone else’s successes when you’ve worked so hard for the same thing, but you deserve it, at this point I just want a small horn out of there, you definitely have a lot more luck than me

mrbojangl555 I have gone to the same place watched the same bulls around 15 times and hiked close to 50+ mile so far and his total is 4 sheds this season and my total is 0, trying to to get my hands on a horn of my own has been one of the most grueling and hardest things i have done in my life, I kinda regret getting into shed hunting because I’ve wasted so much money in gas and food and now I’m in too far deep to give up, I’ve put in more dedication into this than anything else in my life, and literally I was about to go up the mountain on the same day he found the first horn but work and school got in the way and what do you know the bull shed.
@martychagnovich6520
@martychagnovich6520 4 года назад
@@lukegarrett6638 howdy Luke, your disappointment is understandable. Everyone who has put in time has had sheds picked up in front of them, including us. The time and money spent shouldn't be counted as why you deserve horns. Go because you like it for that is the reward. See you up on the mnt.
