As a Katakuri main, it was nice hearing your insight into your card choices. I think 7 cost Mom is still good because Zoro is still good. Since going first against them and playing 7 Mom basically forcing them to trash life. Very solid list. Amande is really good into Law you can just clear blockers and stay aggressive against them.
Everyone I play against at locals always mentions how annoying 7c mom is. Honestly most of the time it feels like a brick in my hand. Might be because of my playstyle, I use my Don a lot to attack by attaching it to other cards on the field. And 8/10 my 7c mom always gets KO’d before I get to use it or can only swing once. I know the trashing or gaining of life applying pressure is nice, specially mentally for opponent. Between having 10c mom, 8c and maybe an event in hand, I feel like my hand is all bricked up and don’t have enough counter power. Really interested in trying out this profile without the 7c. Funny enough, same thing happens to me with Shirahoshi. Sure it’s nice playing it out of life and putting it back with 8c Kata. But more Often than not, I find myself using as a counter or a trigger fodder for strusen
Amande is single-handedly THE MOST important card in the Law match-up. I don't even think that's an opinion as much as it is objective fact, and it kind of amazes me that you say you've never found a chance to use her yet as anything other than a 2k counter...
I beat whotebeard a couple of weeks ago before the band at the tournament but went against a really good rebecca player and couldnt do anything. Got them down to no life but the removal is serious. Good videos guys this honestly stepped up my game.
One thing I think you should have discussed is who’s life to look at with katakuri and when to look at their life. What I personally do is only look at opponents life until I know enough information. My reasoning is that looking at my life trying to manipulate triggers is to inconsistent of a game plan because your relying on RNG of life. I feel like the information game of knowing what cars they have in hand or messing up their curve if they don’t have a good hand is more consistent way to play.
That’s honestly great feedback. We did talk about things like Queen, to just do that, checking opponents life. You can always set up your life later if you find something good .
Hi Will, in your previous videos you mentioned you prefer Big Mom Leader to Katakuri, is this still the case for OP-04? or do you feel like Katakuri is the better leader now based on the OP-04 meta? Love the content, please keep it up. Safe
@@WillToWinGaming Thanks man, I've only been playing for about 7 weeks but won a local store tournament using Big Mom, watching your fundamental tips videos and watching your Big Mom game video. So thanks for that too - really pleased with my Winner Sentomaru card
Our decks are super similar but I went more aggressive with it. I’m not running any brûlées and only 3 Randolph’s. My other 5 cards are 2 yamatos for late game heal or just to kill pesky blockers or characters. And then 3 operas for the 4 for 6k.
I was super unsure about adding Yamato to the deck, but after a little bit of testing, I refuse to remove her! LOL not only is the potential late game heal really nice, but her removal is super nice to have considering our only other removal option is Thunderbolt. Or I guess Streusen too for 1 costs, which is good sometimes but you get it. Having any other removal option in this deck is always great! But personally, I don't think I could give up my Brulee's. They've saved me too many times. I am thinking about going down to 3 though, but idk. Instead, I also took out the 7 cost Big Mom. She's nice sometimes, but I often feel like she's a brick in my hand. Especially against control decks or if the opponent's at 0 life already. And I really can't afford to run any more cards without counter, so 7c BM had to go on order for my new Waifu to have space in my deck LOL
@@kamikaze.33 you’re def good! I ran brulee but she would just never stay on the board. My local is a lot of red so the removal is strong. But I do agree with 7 cost big mom. I took her out the moment op04 came out. I wasn’t to fond of her before as she was a brick most of the time. She’s also just terrible against the mirror and queen. Her being sent to bottom of life with a katakuri just blows. But the waifu is immune!
It's interesting that you find the Nami matchup so lopsided as Katakuri. Team Seafood King from Singapore (IYKYK) believes it's one of Katakuri's worst matchups and the only real strategy you have is to string big mom's together and deny them triggers etc.
I’ve seen how they play into Nami in overseas events it’s kind of a difference of opinion on how the MU should be played. Could be they also rock Nami differently
With how math heavy Don makes combat in this game it makes more sense that vanilla is so good in this game. Counter is always important and it just is the meat of your curve. Yugioh’s vanillas have so much random variability and the effects are so good there’s not much reason to play them
It's clutch in certain matchups. Especially against control decks like Rebecca or Crocodile. And it can help greatly if you can remove a 5c blocker Law out of your way. Also, the ability to gain a life and add a specific trigger to your own life is amazing when you're able to pull off the combo, like with Shirahoshi or Bege. But generally, I don't believe 4 or even 3 are necessary to do well. But I'd personally try to get at least 2 if possible, just to have the option. But I feel like the new 9c Yamato makes for a decent replacement. While it technically fulfills a different role than Katakuri, she's similar enough. Her biggest drawback is just being unsearchable.
