I purchased an Eagle kit in November and got a shunt with meter that reads amps, voltage, percent charge and as amp hours. The price in January 2024 is about $400 more than what I paid in November. I have 2 x 24 volt solar panels with a Victron 100/20 charge controller and rarely drop below 90% charge.

I have had my bigbattery kit for almost a year now, the batteries are great but the kit itself wasn't perfect. I had a different bus bar shipped with mine than yours it has a separate plastic housing, a black one for negative and red one for positive and I like it much better than what was in the pictures (the one u got). I received the same battery meter as you and hated it, the blue sucks like u said and the meter is not accurate at all the information 1-100 is useless since it kept fluctuating, I ended up switching it with a RHOX meter (almost looks identical) for lead acid batteries that I connected inline to the carts main harness and it ended up working exactly how I wanted. For the charger I actually bought the onboard charger and bought a charge port from ecobattery that fit my cart perfectly so I just have to plug a extension cord into the cart, which I am very happy with.

I have Epoch. I was considering big battery also. Very similar kit. I bought the 60ah kit and like you mentioned it wasn’t enough. I had to upgrade a d buy one more battery to bring me to 90ah. The epoch is a nice kit

How are the batteries holding up? And what is your club car battery tray made out of (underneath your seat)? My club car only has metal bars down there but I’d love more of a floor to block water and such

Doug - thanks for the video. Do you have an update on the quality of the Big Battery after using for an extended period of time? What is the black component left of your voltage converter? Leif - I too would be interested in your concerns with the Big Battery product and specifically the "event" you mentioned. Do you have a better product that you could recommend? Thanks to all

I’m planning on doing a follow up video at around 1year where I’ll measure the battery capacity. So far the batteries seem to be ok. My range with my stock 1999 club car and these 2 batteries is 30miles. I did have one less than confidence inspiring call with the big battery company though. I’ll detail that experience in my follow up video. The black component is a relay that turns the 12v buck converter on and off with the key. It’s for the lights mainly.

Great video! I'm waiting for my Eagle 2 kit which I'll install in my stock 2014 Club Car. How come you didn't use the big round connector and cable that came with your Club Car and adapt it to the BigBattery charger?
@Edgarbopp
@Edgarbopp 8 месяцев назад
Yea, I could have done. I did end up selling that old charger on marketplace though.

Jim, did you get your Eagle 2 kit? How did that go?
@JimCrist

@@mikebell2623 It went well. Loved it for two months, then 1 battery refused to turn on. Tried some stuff with tech support and they said I had to send it back. They sent me a prepaid shipping label. So, it's on the way to CA and I can't use the cart. Oh well, tech support has been good so far...

@@JimCrist Well not good the battery didn't turn on but good they are standing behind the product. I just installed this same kit in my cart yesterday but haven't got the cart to the golf course yet to fully test it out.

You are awesome bro!!! Thanks!!! How are they holding up??

Did you bypass the obc? Or just hook them up to original positive and negitive cables?

Hi Doug. I have the same kit. Does your battery display on the batteries stay on all the time. Mine does and it does worry me.
@Edgarbopp
@Edgarbopp 6 месяцев назад
It does, though it doesn’t worry me. The draw from the led is probably an order of magnitude less than the leakage current of the battery cells themselves.

@@Edgarbopp Thanks doug. How about the breaker. Do you shut them off and just leave it on. Seems like a good battery. Much better then lead acid.
@Edgarbopp
@Edgarbopp 6 месяцев назад
@@steves7458I’d hate to wear out that breaker by using it as a on off switch. I leave them on.

You can power the meter by getting the 48v from the key switch on terminal@@Edgarbopp

How's the batteries working now? I've had a 48v HSKY from big battery that is 2 years old and now cannot turn the battery on. Just wondering if I got the bad one of the bunch. Sent email to big battery and waiting on a reply.

Still ok here. I’m going to do a capacity test around the 1year mark to see how they’re holding up. I’ll post a follow up video review here.

I would hard pass on those batteries. I hope you dont have an event.

Can you be more specific? What do you dislike about them? What event are you concerned about?
@leiferickson3183

Firstly, let me say that I have no real information about this battery - I only have what I can see. Have they gone through regulatory scrutiny? I did a quick look around at the link and didnt see anything about any approvals. Do they have internal cell balancers? Does the "BMS" monitor cell temperature(I didnt see any wires for these connections)? What cells are they even using - meaning specific brand and model number. Depending on specific cell, there is more or less risk. Why are they not using Coulomb counting to report battery state of charge(This is standard on modern battery protection chips, and it should be easily available via serial communications)? The fact that they are reporting cell voltage makes me think that they have had minimal if any part in the battery design, from which I infer that the design is likely cost, and not safety driven. A battery of that size will do massive violent damage in cases when thermal runaway occurs. Proper battery design can only reduce the probability of an event happening. I guess call me risk adverse. If I were selling batteries I would be touting above all else the care taken to offer as much safety as possible.@@Edgarbopp

@@leiferickson3183 thanks for your comment. Lots of interesting points there. I did take the top off to have a look at the bms. It does include high and low temperature protection and a fire arresting device. A 100A DC rated breaker is also included. Because you seem to have more experience with this sort of thing would you mind looking into the similar kit from Epoch? It’s a 2x 48v also and similar in price. I wonder if they’re meeting more of these criteria you’re referring too. I’m also comparing these to lead acid that have their own health and safety issues as I’m sure you know.
