Throughout the decades countless hair, tissue, and blood samples of cryptids or undiscovered organisms have been discovered and reported across the globe.Today we examine the DNA evidence of cryptozoology in order to determine if mysterious creatures like the Bigfoot, Yeti, and Loch Ness monster actually exist.
Hope you enjoy!

the 'hairy man' isn't that hard to fathom, just glimpse a bear standing on it's hind legs in the shadows of the woods. Hairy, tall, and bipedal, when you're spooked already at being deep in the woods, or even just alone in the woods in the middle of day, your brain is going to make that animal bigger and less detailed until you are certain you saw a big foot. There was a bear hanging around my parent's cabin that was close to 8 feet tall on it's hind legs, which we know because it knocked the birdfeeder off a roughly 7.5 foot tall post without leaving a mark on the post.

What about the Patterson film? Nobody had even come close to making a fake better and that was made in 1967. In 2020 we have way better costumes and technology to ale it but nobody has and that film is still the only one that can not be 100% debunked. 🤷‍♂️. I’ve spent a shitload of time in the PNW and I haven’t seen one and haven’t had a real encounter except one time I was fishing the sandy river canyon in the mt hood forest and had a 12” round boulder land right in the middle of the river in front of me. At the time I thought someone was up the hillside throwing it down but for them to have done that they would have had to bushwack a few miles to get to the spot where they could have thrown it as well as be able to throw a boulder that large out into the middle of the river and not many people if any are capable. I didn’t think about it being a Bigfoot till years later when I read people saying they throw rocks and then it made me wonder. Idk I don’t believe in them cause I haven’t seen them or enough proof but I’m also not saying they don’t exist either.

Maybe the gigantopithecus (biggest ape ever standing anywhere from 9 ft to 11 ft tall) is still alive, just in very small numbers which is why we havent found it.
@dammar7938
@dammar7938 4 года назад
Virgin Mouse also let me just add that even in a panicked situation I would be able to tell the difference between an ape walking up right or staying stable on two feet and swinging its arms. Than a bear that has small arms and legs that can’t go outwards? Multiple videos also can’t be bears soo?
@someoneidk308
@someoneidk308 4 года назад
@@MatanuskaHIGH Recently I saw that film stabilized. It genuinely looks like someone someone dressed in a suit and didn't even attempt to walk ape-like. It straight up looks like a normal dude just walking along in a gorilla suit. The cameras shaky nature makes it look like an odd looking ape, but stabilization completely takes any sort of suspicious quality away. I'd go looking for it, if I were you. I thought it was pretty good evidence of bigfoot too until I saw the stabilized version. As for the rock, maybe it fell from somewhere, or maybe an animal kicked it down. Or maybe a teen saw you while on his own trek and decided to mess with you. It's not that crazy to me.
@harpoonlobotomy
@harpoonlobotomy 4 года назад
@Troll King Then I'd expect the experienced hunters to be capable of collecting samples at their encounters, compared to the faint city folk. To be able to track a creature instead of getting one out of focus shakycam then leaving for the day. Once you take 'they were just scared and didn't think' out of the picture, we should expect MORE evidence, not less. A poor retort to an ordinary argument, I'd hoped for better with that username.

@markcobuzzi826
@markcobuzzi826 5 лет назад
I know it is pretty much a cliche to bring up Gigantopithecus in the same conversations as cryptids like Bigfoot and the Yeti. But, apparently, its existence in India has briefly overlapped with that of early man, right before it went extinct. Some have speculated that maybe stories of these possible encounters with Gigantopithecus may have been passed down throughout countless generations. With the idea of a massive and intimidating hairy primate existing in people’s minds, it could have made it easier for legends like those of the Himalayan Yeti to take root in the future cultures.

I tend to find it interesting that there do seem to be behaviors shared by the hairy man archetype like throwing rocks and knocking to try and scare off people. I think people who really dive into this stuff and regularly go off in the woods to look around are seeing /something/ When you have professional rangers talking about these strnge things it's really interesting. Like they hear a scream they aren't gping to be confusing it for a fox or panther yelling. As far as any "conspiracy" I think the only conspiracy that could exist is if certain higher ups just don't want their sections to be seen as a laughing stocks or don't want a huge influx of people going into the woods getting lost looking for stuff that may not be there.

So with peoples obsession that cryptids have to be real.... I feel like dismissing known animals as boring (wich a lot of peoples obsession with cryptids seem to imply) is.... a very pessemistic view, something being 'fantastical' or mysterious is cool and all but if they do exist they are just animals, meaning no different from any of the numerous interesting creatures that call our planet home. We have giant fish like mammals who can create fountains of water from a hole in their back (whales), long necked leopard skinned deers (a way to describe roughly what a giraffe looks like), hell even deers look really neat with their horns. We got lots of species who live in very fascinating ways, squids can camoflage, corvids have become as good at living in cities as we have pretty much, and numerous others someone more specialized in zoology could tell you about (i just find animals fascinating, dont actually study em) Even common things like dogs are pretty fascinating when you think about it, and most of all humans due to our ability to make use of tools and our intelligence (most of the time) When you really think about it a lot of cryptids arnt really any more weird or fascinating then a lot of known creatures, or even more strange. But because we cannot prove they exist they automaticly gain that mysterious factor and people want them to be real, even though I feel that would remove what makes them special in the first place. Just my ramblings though. I do think people would not care much if they were proven though.

Isn't that the same argument people use against people wanting to explore space? "Why go the moon when there's a bunch of cool stuff on earth? What's that gonna accomplish?" A lot, actually. Things such as stew bless glass and microwave tech were developed during the space program. I don't see the problem with wanting to discover new life. Say we DID find bigfoot. What could its kind tell us about primatologist or even anthropology?
@auroraborealis7136
@auroraborealis7136 5 лет назад
Only a small minority of people in the field are obsessed with cryptids because they WANT them to be real, but many are because they KNOW. Some have seen one. Some just can't explain the evidence logically. But the fact is, some cryptids are real. Bigfoot, for example, is almost certainly a real, unknown species of ape. So why not give the obsessive people closure? Why condemn them for having differing opinions, or even just saying things you don't believe? Why not give witnesses relief from the ridicule they recieve even from their closest friends and family? Cryptids have changed people's lives, just because nobody else cares doesn't mean we shouldn't try to help fufill what they have chosen as their life's purpose, and potentially learn so, so much more about our world along the way?

@grandiflora8479

If I sounded rude to those who like cryptids then I apologize.... I probably worded it weird but I do not mean it isnt worth studying.... I do think you SHOULD look for other explanations first though before assuming it is a new species, especially when there are other more likely explanations or the cryptid in question being real doesnt align with the evidence. If we DID find bigfoot that would be a fascinating discovery, I just dont think it would align exactly with the popular idea of bigfoot, say a large species of ape living there is certainly not impossible, but the evidence there is is either hard to prove the authenticity of or is proven frauds. Wich suggests that bigfoot doesnt exist altough does not prove that it doesnt. The loch ness monster I certainly can NOT accept as legit though.... for reasons mostly brought up in this channels cryptid profile three parter of the Loch Ness monster. And the claim that people KNOW cryptids exist..... how? It is very easy to missremember, see something wrong, etc. I do NOT think that means the person in question should be ridiculed though and if I sounded like that then I do apologize, I just think seeing something that isnt there is something any person can and will and has done, myself included. Mothman is an excellent example, I do not doubt many who spotted it saw something, I do however doubt they saw "mothman" rather then "an owl" considering its general description matches an owl incredibly close. We can NOT *know* that any cryptid exist until we have hard physical evidence such as DNA, that doesnt mean they are not true, just that we cant say they are true or that we know they are because seeing something wrong is common. Especially in areas with stories like these it is easy to attribute seeing any creature even vaguely similar as that thing. Researching cryptids is a good idea I think, but if we assume they are real while searching we may overlook evidence. And either way my point to begin with was never that your an idiot if you believe in cryptids, my point was that I do not think most people who believe in cryptids would care much if they had been discovered species allready. Their charm lies in being mysterious, wich is not a bad thing and trying to find them could lead to other interesting discoveries or in rare cases even the discovery of them, so not a bad thing in and of itself I just believe it is bad to have the assumption that they exist without solid evidence, and eye witness acounts is NOT good evidence. I apologize if I seemed rude or dismissive but I hope this answer was better and hope it was not too repetedive.

@@grandiflora8479 When I was 13 I remember drawing the Loch Ness monster, and I knewn "it isn't real, if it was we would've found it already". I know, there's that species of fish that is ancient and we thought it was extinct and we found it! welp, have you seen any bigfoot skeletons? no? I mean, many just want to prove that they are real cause their egos are too big to say that they were wrong... so they'll never grow and waste some time of their lives, fine with me, if I get more money at my job, as there's a need of workers caused by those who waste their life. So it's all fine. Let them lose it, and if it's a family member who is doing it, don't try to prove them wrong, they'll think it;s a personal attack on them, try to make them think that they are the ones thinking that they are wrong and "maybe I'm wrong, maybe I shouldn't waste my time here." I want to add that, the hairy human myth might be so popular worldwide because there actually exist very humanoid hairy primates. It's funny to imagine that to early european explorers, seeing an orangutan or a gorila for the first time, would be equivalent to a modern human seeing big foot. It is almost the same experience, It is hard to imagine the shock they could have experienced. And it would be reasonable that the stories spread of misterious hairy men in the distance living in the wild.

eDNA is both very interesting and slightly scary. I can just imagine eDNA samplers set up around a city, connected to super-duper computers (probably owned by Google), tracking every single citizen and their movements. As a skeptical Scotsman, I've never believed in Nessy. Naturalist Chris Packham presented a TV show which concluded that there wasn't enough "food" in Loch Ness to support a population of Nessies. It will be interesting to hear the results though. Also, I wish I could teach you how to say "loch" properly, but seeing as I enjoyed the upload, I'll forgive you. ;)

Hey Trey I just wanted to say I’m a big fan of this series and I was wondering what you would think about critiquing “monster hunting” shows in the future, one part reaction video another part review of the episode or series for how scientific it was. I think it would be great hearing someone with a scientific mindset to do that, and I’m sure you must’ve seen a couple shows like that to be interested in making videos on cryptids at least. Some of my favorite shows related to this growing up was “Monster Quest” and “Destination Truth”, but I’m sure you’d absolutely love tearing a more recent show “Mountain Monsters” a new one for how they’ve dramatized, faked evidence, and damaged the credibility of the few cryptozoologists that actually do give a damn about the conservation and cataloging of animals not yet known to science.
@v.conforti653

Well, they did not find reptile DNA, sorry... About 25% was nonidentified DNA in the Loch Ness though, so maybe there is something surprising there. No sturgeon, shark, or catfish DNA either in the Loch. However, lots and lots of eel DNA. Nessie might be a giant eel after all... TBH, I always thought lake monsters were large eels ever since hearing about such animals in Lake Victoria in Africa, which also happened to have a legend of a lake monster. I also consider the possibility of old sightings of lake monsters being related to another cryptozoology species - the long-necked seals (did they really exist and are now extinct? IDK) as the connection of some of these lakes to the sea would allow for some sea creatures to visit the lakes occasionally... Seals would explain why some people describe seeing a large body and flippers as opposed to the snake-like body of an eel.
