this is gonna heavily reduce my layer-count per project, so I would say this is a good change, and I didn't even think to ask for it honestly LOL

There's set matte. It doesn't work image layers.

This is one of those constant, messy pain points with the most simple solution that took too long to implement. Likewise the properties panel. And yet, both are still in Beta.

It's definitely the first feature in a while that I'm excited about and I can see actually changing my life lol. That GPU upgrade they did that everyone was so excited about was not so great in my opinion and causes more issues than anything else.

Well a good step forward but if they would have introduced folders or grouping for layers that would have improved the workflow 10x times. Precomposing or working under the same layer is sometimes not as intuitive or easy. I just started recently working in Cinema 4D Lite and was amazed by null grouping ability. Its so convenient and easy. Hopefully one day Adobe will add this feature too Thank you Nick have a nice vacation!

Seems like a step in the right direction. looks like you're losing more of the timeline tho. I do hope Mr Adobe would look into nodes a little more so this whole linking layers to things could also be used for effects and things too.

It always works if you rasterize the layers. For layers that dont, just precomp them first and then raster them

My company’s motion graphics branding is basically rooted in using “set matte” on most layers so this is absolutely huge for me.

since so many people announce to left adobe like some big goat : Sam Kolder, Corridor Crew. adobe now start to listen and make some minor change. we still need some big changes for the whole system. i hate adobe but i still have to work with that.

The less competition they have the lazier they might get, the worse their products might perform. We need the completion to challenge them, step on their toes, innovate and push boundaries
