i think, at the end of the day, if i saw an avalanche i would treat it with the same caution that i would a pyroclastic flow. both are capable of moving fast and cover a lot of ground in a very short amount of time. a pyroclastic flow would probably kill me faster though.

Because it was a controlled and planned avalanche and it is an incredible sight to see especially when it's safe, so people cheer to express that they feel amazed.
If you will go to ski resorts you will luckly witness such thing because they drop them for safety reasons using canons. However I do think they do that at night mostly, as far as I remember correctly, because no one is skiing at night
Yup, I don't speak Norwegian, but I am very familiar with that video. It is used to train people on the perfect way to set off a controlled avalanche. On the other hand, the video where the camera man gets engulfed by the cloud is also used, but to teach the wrong way to set off a controlled avalanche.

Powder avalanches of this magnitude can take quite some time to settle down. These types of avalanches have different qualities about them that can make them more deadly and destructive than slab avalanches. Slab avalanches are basically snow sliding down a mountain, but powder avalanches have large amounts of displaced air being pushed down with the snow. John Haser was right, these beautiful looking clouds are filled with miniscule ice crystals that probably weigh close to 1 million tons in weight (at least in the avalanches presented in this video). The air pressure alone from these larger powder avalanches can tear down buildings. These powder avalanche clouds are like mini-hurricanes if your inside it. 100 MPH winds, freezing cold temps, and when those miniature ice crystals finally float to the ground, it sets like concrete. I get what you mean by wanting to see the whole thing, but watching snow settle for 30-60 minutes is quite boring to watch.
No one died in the video where the powder avalanche cloud engulfed the guy holding the camera. Many people were injured in it, but thankfully no one died. Many snow resorts use that particular video to train ski patrol what NOT to do when setting off controlled avalanches. On the other hand, that first video was from a mountain in Norway, and ski patrol uses that video as a classic example of how to set off a perfect controlled slide.
