Absolutely massive props to your filmers and editors and everyone who paddled out that day. This blows my mind!

It a near miracle and testament to water safety and the skill and fitness of the watermen and women that no one drowned or was seriously injured. From watching afar here in Virginia - it may be the most inspiring event I have ever witnessed.

Though you are greatly missed surfing the event,you and your crew produced the best coverage of the “EDDIE” is second to none. Your spirit shows through in the incredible footage. Thanks Nate

This is absolutely the best video of the Eddie Aikau. The music intensifying the excitement and danger, the crowds voices, the slow mo. EXCELLENT editing and film work. Thanks to Nate and Zord for sharing your skills with us. I think the crowd size at this event shows that all these videos work in peaking spectator interest in the sport. Hopefully that will reflect generously on the dollars that are invested into competitions and salaries for the surfers as well as the lifeguards who are truly heroes at these events. Please, keep up the good work. Can't wait to see Nate surfing this event next year when he is fully recovered from his back injury.

The fact that ‘we’ can now surf maxed out Waimea bay closeouts absolutely blows my mind. Inflation and big wave board design have pushed big wave surfing to the freakin stratosphere. So hectic to watch. Props for a lifetime to everyone who surfed out there 🙏🤟

nice edit. really showed how historically epic that swell was, and how heroic were all the competitors...the modern crew of big wave riders is so talented and fit. everyone charging and coming in ok! the best event in surf history so far. fairy tale ending... great job covering the event, nate, instead of just suffering over not being in it. you have many historic swells to ride, i'm sure...it was an excellent example as a role model, how you supported your friends and family, when you were obviously disappointed for yourself.

Your edit makes me realise at this size and swell direction it was almost unrideable, big props to anyone who even got to paddle out.

Wow, this is the best surf video I've ever watched. The video is crisp and clear and the footage was shot by a true surfer who knows what it's like. That you showed all aspects, paddling out, getting in, paddling for the wave, getting caught inside, backing out, getting pitched, jackhammered, that's big wave surfing. I've surfed big Waimea, not like this, but big enough to know, big enough to punch through the lip out in the middle of the bay. I'm old and done with this kinda business, but thanks for elevating my heart rate, just what the doctor ordered. Well done. 💙🤪

Why this is not getting more attention, who knows. I watched most of the live stream and attempted to be semi-productive. The behind the scenes view through your viewpoint is stepping into another world for most of us part-timers regardless of age. As fa an of your channel and your approach to life, congrats for living the dream and we trust that you will overcome your injury as has your brother-in-arms Billy and you real life brother who has had those challenges. It was epic and the value of watching through your lens is special documentation of one of the most exciting competitions for the archives. OMG! Waimea at that size turns into a MONSTER SLAB! Top-to-bottom at 50'!! Insane Nathan! That was full-on "Gladiators vs Waimea BEAST SLAB" complete with a heavy music soundtrack that is so appropriate (amazing editing too). Mahalo nui nui nui loa Nathan! Malama Pono, a hui hou and a hui hou!

Nate I honestly didn't think there was too much of a new level to be achieved at Waimea but this year's Eddie blew that thought out of the water of my mind, and obliterated it on the reef of incredulity man! I missed it live due to the time difference and work commitments, but I watched it through on Monday/Tuesday via the Surfline YT channel, mostly with my jaw touching my chest in awe at what the competitors and water safety were capable of in such demanding conditions. I've never seen footage of a swell like that at Waimea before, and I've been surfing 35 years! One for the ages brother,... or maybe a warming Mother Ocean throws an even more powerful bone next year too? Either way, thanks for sharing this footage. Blown away I am. Wishing you well with your recovery, just one word of advice from experience though if I may? Patience. Don't come back too soon! Heal well champ. 💙🤙

I’m always so curious to see the aftermath of a wipeout. To focus on one guy who had a major wipeout would be so interesting to me as someone who has NO idea what it’s like to go under on one of those waves. I can only imagine the journey back into the lineup is a tough one

This is almost like IMAX. The filmography is outstanding. The tv commentary on the full broadcast was alright but this live background noise and random ‘commentary’ is better.

I am not a big wave surfer but in the last few years I have seen waves of consequence (Nazare, Dungeons etc.) myself and of course all the clips on youtube etc. Then you would see photos/clips of 15 to 20 foot Waimea, just a drop, not that powerful and I started thinking all the old hype over Waimea was just overrated. Then I saw the Eddie videos and it was a mindblowing event. That's a slab with a 50/50 chance drop and some of the heaviest wipeouts and lips I have seen for a long time. Wow, so much respect for Waimea now and to all the guys that rode it that day. Insane and such courage. What an event!!!!!!!!!
