I learned my lesson about following too closely in the dust! I was participating in a recent RAM Rally, and I didn't see the mud hole until it was too late, and of course it was huge. I was standing on the pegs, as you always should be when riding a motorbike off road. When the front end of the bike disappeared into the hole, I was pitched forward, hitting my face on the wind shield, my right knee on the SRC Adventure Moto crash bars and knocking the camera off its helmet mount. Thankfully I was wearing a full face helmet, but the pain from striking my knee on the crash bars was the kind of pain that takes your breath away - where you see white for a few seconds, can't breathe or talk, and as your senses return you start wondering if you actually have a broken leg.
Not only was this the biggest hit I've ever had on my 2023 Kawasaki KLR 650, it's the biggest hit I've ever taken on any motorbike ever.
The bike was fine, but my leg is 5 different shades of purple and black!
