Hi everyone, on this video my wife Jinny, Colby our Chow Chow and myself go Car camping out of my Toyota Prado, then we go Drone Fishing and surfcasting off Himatangi beach, which is in the Whanganui, Manawatu region between Palmerston North and Wellington, in the bottom of the North Island of New Zealand.

We start off by cooking up some great food and having a gentlemen’s hours drone fishing session with the my DJI Mavic Air 2 and Gannet Sport Release and Shimano Force Master and Balzer 4-piece travel rod off Himatangi Beach just out past the Himatangi Holiday Park Campsite
I then go fishing there again in the evening to try my luck at change of light and we end up catching some nice fish!
I then show you a bit of Waikato bow Fishing for Koi carp and grey mullet.
Then finally we go back to the Kitchen in Hamilton eating what I catch, where I use the Oklahomo Joes Black Jack Coal Kettle BBQ to smoke some fish and do a classic Catch and Cook!

Do you have or could you do a video on the different rigs/setups you use and how you make them when drone fishing? Or what pre-bought gear you use, I'll need it dumbed down.... cheers

@mattdarby921 hey mate!! Funny you should ask that... I have a HUGE tutorial coming up which includes EVERYTHING I know about drone fishing have filmed it all just in the editing phase now. It's very neat to catch a big Yellow-eyed Mullet, as its pretty rare to see them that big, they do eat anything though. I've tried grey-eyed mullet too in the past and yeah not keen, only time its tastes decent is in a chilli & blackbean sauce to down out that taste, its been so long I don't even remember what it tastes like.

that y.e mullet is a horse! haha used to catch a lot of them with 2/0 - 3/0 recurve hooks from the wharf but i also managed to snag one while surfcasting as well.

Hahahahahaha I appreciate the positivity. But I can't catch big snapper to save my life 🤣😭 i used to consider myself a pro kingfish fisherman though... except it's been too many years since I caught a blimen kingi too haha hopefully in July I'll finally break the drought

It's easy to see you can't read a beach well as both the spots you chose to stop and fish were the shallowest spot in your lenses view. You are fishing were the waves are breaking where you should be looking for the waves aren't breaking . That's where the deepest spots are

Cheers mate!! I was fishing where it was close for my wife and especially my dog as cant hack the heat and also wasn't in the way of people in the morning and in the evening had a limited time window. Unfortunately, the cost is sometimes not the best spot, haha, but all good cheers for the info, tho
