BIGGEST PAINTBALL Event in the World - Skirmish Paintball's Invasion of Normandy - 2018

ION or Invasion of Normandy is held annually at Skirmish Paintball in Albrightsville, PA, about 100 miles north of Philadelphia. This game regularly pulls in over 4000 players who play a full reenactment of the the D-Day beach landings from World War 2 over the course of 3 days.
In this video we cover every aspect of the game as well as our friends, Mad Frog Militia and their journey to the event!

Big paintball matches like this always seem really cool in concept, but in my experience there are always way too many people who just ignore getting hit and there aren’t enough referees going around to catch them. You inevitably just end up with groups of people yelling at each other about who is out and who isn’t.

Pumpers Pandemonium at EMR used to be a notable exception to that. In my experience it was pretty rare to find anyone in that pump only crew cheating.

I was there and the beach assault is absolutely insane. No joke I have never been lit up so bad in my life. I also have never been so tired in my life. Bring water, a chest and back protector, and whiskey.

I did D-Day OK, in 2006. The boats actually do a water crossing with Germans on the hillside firing down. Unbelievable feeling!

Me and the boys now Into our 30s looking D-day up. Realized they closed D-day down permanently last year. So I think ima send it on this one. If paintball dies I'm dying with it.

I played in 2004 and it was great except we had a ref tell us we were switching sides mid-day and then inserted a group of us next to the enemy base. The ref was wrong and we got both destroyed and yelled at by the enemy for cheating.

I want to go this year but just read cases of paint are $90 😐 seems pretty steep considering it's a 3 day event and you are gonna shoot multiple cases on top of entry fee and air .

Lol theyre $110 with taxes. Their prices kill their business capabilities. Bring it doen 20 per case and not only still charge more tuan anyone but it become affordable to shoot more paint like they want

I did that in 2006 I would do it again in a heartbeat (just not night paintball yeah f@ck that😂😂😂) went out at night for the first time on d day and got a major reality check 🤣🤣🤣🤣but it was kool it was over 4500 players 😁😁😁😁I was with a airborne group we had to protect our general,and the beach battle........two words GOOD GAWD!!!!!!!!!😂😂

SO! my only issue with paintball/airsoft....cheaters. how do you overcome that aspect? The cheating that I'm talking about is people who get hit and don't leave the field. Surely big events like this one and others, refs can't monitor everyone.

@@Adamcadabra91 That's why you have team colors and paint color. If you get hit, you'll either have to retreat, or continue to get hit. If someone sees you and shoots at you, it doesn't feel good. Also if it hits your facemask then it becomes hard to see if you don't wipe it off right at that moment

@@Adamcadabra91 Now airsoft is a whole new story. If you get shot, it just stings a lot more and you're more likely to walk away just due to the sting. The people who wear lots of clothing are more likely to cheat, but everyone else will 95% of the time take the loss.

Not the biggest. They get like 1000 players if that. Ive heard the owners say it to the owners of valken a few yrs back during a paint negotiation where they ignored all their awesome advice on setting the property up better for the players. The entire event is coordinated like shit to the point the refs cant stand working events.
