Sadly the star will emit so much matter that it basically will lose potential in the long run. That's what I hear about massive stars is they cant contain themselves and basically shed outer layers as they age They kinda pulsate as well Very interesting how matter reacts on those levels

Question - when R136a1 dies and becomes a black hole, how massive will the black hole be? will it be the same mass that the star currently have, or will it lose mass? I ask because from what I understand, the most massive stellar mass black holes are only something like 20 times the mass of our sun.
@carbonno6324

Sorry, but if a star with 315 times the mass of the Sun is in its final days then it most certainly would go supernova. It won't swell into a giant and casually shed its outer layers.
