For most railway operators in Africa, funding, and access to finance to execute projects that would allow for efficiencies and increased volume to generate revenue, remain the biggest challenge. Markus Kluczka - Senior Advisor Project & Export Finance at Siemens Mobility, explains that access to funding is not just about funding for big-ticket items, such as those big turnkey projects. There are funding solutions that can be bundled in technology solutions, from an OEM perspective for smaller, specific projects - such as signalling upgrade projects or refurbishment projects.
