it was enough that he had to bail on the landing and jump ship...the ski to either side of him turned around to outrun it but he laid it pretty hard.

Awesome quality! Wave of the Winter coming from this sesh!?!? Also, so there is less confusion, Ryan Moss was on the back one of the two black skis, didn't bail hence the compression fracture. The white ski astronauts hit eject for sure!

I commented on the raw vid, but will repeat here. Outside limit shows he dropped 85ft and hit at 50mph. Estimated wave face about 68ft, or 30 something Hawaiian. Hit the eject button for sure!

I know this is 2 years after the fact, but really, you, Koa AND John John should have won WAVE OF THE WINTER for your massive barrels that epic day! Insane! I used to own an old "Surfing Hawaii" book and the description of this spot was something like, "Absolute insanity!" You guys had the necessary preparation and the skis for safety made it doable, but the sheer BALLS it took to paddle into those monsters was INSANE! Most amazing perfect conditions to pull it off. Congrats to you and your crew and for sharing these amazing videos! YOU ROCK!
