my dad told a story about working with a rookie driller on a triple working near Morley, AB, years ago. they hit a coal seam and before the driller realized what was happening, snapped the string down hole. they ended up using a whip-stock to get past the broken string and kept right on going. he said because of the extra drag on the bypass, they were maxing out the draw-works on more than one occasion. he got a job at the mines in Canmore and became a welder/mechanic right after that. I asked him if he ever missed working rigs. he said "not after my first winter working in the shop"
I must have blinked....I didn't see anything resembling Canada's biggest Truck.Lot's of Hayes,Pacific and KW's in the oilfields way bigger than those trucks.
Joe Keleman used to run a big Dynatel 6x6 bed truck back in the 80s. 12x12 I-beam frame and around a 400" wheelbase. That beast, along with some other big conventional trucks, were something to see. And of course, there were the Foremost Commanders and tracked machines. Some great oilfield trucks in western Canada!
Was aiihht but were that chain at? Legends before the smart phone camera days have already been had and these 2020 smart extra safe geek boys know it too.
