The day that Rodrigo Koxa set a Guinness World Record where he rode the biggest wave ever surfed at 24.38 meters(80 foot) at Nazare. As the day progressed the wind came up where kite surfer Nuno Figueiredo also achieved a Guinness World Record, kiting a 19 meters (63 feet).

Even though he was only "riding around" in the waves, much respect for this guy! So many variables and unknowns. One mishap could be catastrophic. It would likely take years to dial this place in perfectly on a kite. Needs swell, the right wind direction and speed, good surface conditions, and huge balls. All of which are in short supply at this location.

I disagree respectfully bro, I reckon this spot is loaded with a serious concentration of the worlds available balls. Anyone who rides this shit knows the risks and the decision to do do is certainly not due to the lack of total fitness, absolute dedication and skill and, well, balls. Big, nasty, hairy sets of balls stacked to the horizon like the swells marching in. I've seen some guys actually eat it pretty bad on account of two huge weights dragging through the water disabling their ability to ride to safety. You you when the jetski picks them up, you see a low rooster tail wake? That's, ahh, that's their balls doin that shit man.

Anyone out there on a day like that got huge balls, but honestly I don't see the point in kitesurfing a wave like that. The wind is pulling him in one direction but the wave wants him to go down the face. Watching this I am thinking: "Let go of the kite and commit to the wave!"

The wind looks to offshore to ride the wave properly. Very offshore wind doesn’t let you pull off the wave to the inside and if you make a turn towards the top of the wave you wont be able to drop back down. You get held up by the wind and go over the top. If you go to deep and get smashed by one of these monsters and rolled up with your lines you’re done for. He did all he could do without dying. Not much more you can do in those conditions without being stupid. I would have boosted big time on the way out. 🙂
