Exactly. All about listening and hearing the visual. No fucking rapper was that nice back then. BIG influenced so many deep thinking rappers these days. I'm 34 btw and grew up on this.
The thud at the end was actually Biggie falling to the floor. A quote from "Price" Charles Alexander (who was helping produce this song): “Suicidal Thoughts” was funny, ’cause at the end we were trying to get a “Thud.” At the end of the song, he drops the phone and he falls, ’cause he has shot himself. So he shoots himself, the phone drops and there was supposed to be a body thud. But we could not get a body thud, we looked on all kinds of different tapes that have sound effects. So I was like, “Yo, you know what we’re going to have to do?” So Puffy and I told Biggie to go in there-and to his credit, he’s a trooper, he was really a great guy-we turned off the lights and we played the music and we said, “Biggie, when the gun shoots, just fall. Just fall as hard you can.” Man, that gun went off and we heard the biggest fucking thud you ever want to hear in your life. We started rolling. We thought it was hilarious. ’Cause we didn’t think he was going to do it. But he did it and when I listen to it now, that’s one of the things I always think about that day. It was me, Puffy, Biggie. It was the way you would think an album was done-all the creative people are all in one room. I don’t know if Puffy works that way anymore. That was really intimate. He’s very much an executive now. He comes in and sanctions and puts his name on things that he’s requested. Back in the day, we were creating on the fly.
+badmuthasuka It's because some of us don't want to be called 'emo' or 'edgy' but for people who call others emo: "Actions have reactions, don't be quick to judge You may not know the harships people don't speak of It's best to step back, and observe with couth For we all must meet our moment of truth"
this song really just makes us realize we all have a side like this. we seem happy on the outside and try to ignore all the things bringing us down, but at the end of the day when you lay in bed, this is how we really feel.
talk about all that good 90's rap, Wu-Tang, Gangstarr, Tribe, Biggie, Nas, Ghost Face, Raekwon, Mobb Deep, etc..... That would uplift our thoughts about the struggles.
cant believe people think puff ruins the song.. yes, puff has made 99% of the songs he laid any type of vocals on worse, but this is the one song that he doesnt. it's a fucking phone conversation between 2 friends before one of them commits suicide. ya he's rapping, but the song is a conversation remember that shit.
Honestly never knew it was it was puff fits perfectly in this song tho paints a picture, this and Stan by em are 2 songs that paint a picture in my mind
This i the only song I can listen to Puff's voice because it actually has something to do with the song. Instead of all that 'riight' or 'yeah' bullshit he does in the back of BIG's songs
+pj jackson Its cuz hes the damn producer man, no fucking shit the man deserves some respect/attention. Damn son they were close friends you either listen to it or shut the fuck up about it.... Struggles indeed.
Fuck off I know he's the producer and his close friend I'm just saying the background noises he makes in half the other songs take away from the music. He got enough respect and attention as it is why go out and practically ruin the sound of other songs with pointless noise? Should have put a verse in or worked the words into the beat instead of something that's straight annoying to listen to
everything about this track resonates with me, the beat the lyrics, damn can't believe such a song could touch so close to heart. rip biggie, died too soon.
I believe this...for everybody that's saying "this is too depressing" or "why he made a song like this?"...Ya'll need to stfu! Not everybody can understand what Biggie feel but a few of us feels this way how he felt! When you're young and there's so much stress on the brain it's like you don't know where you gonna be in life or where you headed? Or no one accepts you and you're not being loved? You gonna feel some type of suicidal way I don't care who you are! Whoever ain't depress or don't go through depression you guys have all the shit ya'll want out of life! But respect those that are going through ROUGH times! And maybe help!...Some say Hip Hop can be a dying art form..I think it could be depending on what the rappers talking about! If it's sad shit most definitely! This songs beautiful to me Biggie's expressing himself!
Biggie Smalls was a great great lyricist, and this song is profound and deep.I love it,I miss both Tupac and Biggie. They were legends.and trailblazers in the rap game.
i respect your opinion biggie was and still is a great rapper his lyricism, flow, beats, mind so dope ... but no one touch pac either in rap or in his all lifestyle thats my opinion
I had mad fun last night . Thank you biggie smalls wish i could have gotten to know you through your music better. But I have the rest of my life to learn me and my likes and dislikes. Sincerly Stephon Smith
Black & beautiful like most of the thoughts running thru the minds of most brothers tryina escape...Spit In Peace ...BIGGIE... you definitely took it there
I could've done this. Called my sister with a gun pointing to my head. Felt a hand on my shoulder and instantly knew it was my grandma's spirit. She knew how I felt when she was alive and she would always cheer me up. Even after death she comes back to stop me from shooting myself.
+VirtualRelic talk about it with other people who are depressed, it sounds hard or fucking depressing, but it's a relief and its like a win-win. you both get this relief, help each other out in these cold days man, don't be this fool everyone's trynna be by thinking 'bout their own good moments (dont forget em though). Share love, but share pain aswell.
@@SagetheMC he's overrated. I don't see the hype behide him. I don't even think he gave a verse on earthquake. The number one song off Igor was earthquake too. He was much better on goblin and wolf.
WARNING: Don't slide through these comments, they're full of this Indian man dressed as superman hating on people 20 years younger then him and kids that think they have the balls to actually hurt themselves.
I was born in 89. man im glad I was alive when brothers like him and pac where here. these the fellas that put me on game. mad respect to all the fallen legends man
It's based on your watch history and stuff. Like if you listen to a lot of Biggie's music it'll come up first regardless if you searched for it before.
