I would have rather heard this speech than many of the other commencements I’ve heard over the past 5 years. He isn’t saying to women don’t get jobs or have a career, he’s telling the truth to these Christian women that the hardest and most important vocation will be motherhood.
That premise itself is sexist. I was raised by a single Mother (father died 7 months before I was born) and I put myself through college, earning a Master’s degree in 7 years total. It IS NOT only fathers who support their children’s education.

Rich and white. They see that as some kind of ultimate role model. lol Trump turned out to be lying about how much money he actually has and he's tanked every single one of his business ventures.
As he rails against birth control, may I ask how he only has two kids after several years of marriage? Because shouldn’t she be popping out a baby a year, and maybe even Irish twins?? 🤔
Its called NFP, or natural family planning, its an alternative to birth control, that instead of screwing with the womans hormones and her cycles, studies how her body works, and when her fertile cycles are. The parents, in this case Harrison and his wife, then can make a decision to have sex when the wife is fertile, if they want a child, or when she is not fertile, when they are using the other purpose of sex that God bestowed it with, that being a way to unite man and woman in a deep and loving relationship. Benedictine University knew who this guy was based on his commencement speech at Georgia Tech in the prior year when he told a group of graduates the best contribution they have is to get married and start a family. This university brought him to make this message. They wanted to condemn women, gay people, Jewish people, and DEI! Benedictine is responsible for his words as much as he is! So he’s saying that if women don’t get married and have children and assume the role of homemaker they are unfulfilled? If you’re a gay man or woman you do not meet the requirements of being a man or woman according to him? And I’m suppose to listen to him because he has Super Bowl rings?
It’s a Catholic University. What are you talking about? Should I go to a drag show with my Bible? If they don’t welcome me and defame my religion can I sue? Live and let live, a Catholic University invited a Catholic speaker. You want to enter that space, in hopes of someone provoking, to validate your beliefs of a plight by an entire group of people.

If they don't want to face the statements of people Butker and Benedictine shouldn't speak. Otherwise be prepared to deal with the problems the words create.
@@secranb ok I understand, not to sound condescending, genuinely asking what you found to be offensive. As from what I gathered he put an emphasis on the value of having a strong family unit, and that this, in its own right is something to strive for and place value in, for both men and women. Not at the expense of a man or woman’s career. Just to recognize that there is value in having a family, with faith and morals and that this is an achievement in its own right as it has proven to be a beneficial environment when raising the next generation.
@@ToxiCisty That is not what I heard in that speech at all. He told that group of graduating students, approximately half of which were women, that the most they could get out of life is being a wife and mother. The women were told to disregard their careers and get married and anything else would be less than. That was offensive enough but then he went on to insult people that are members of the LGBTQ community. He compared his pride for being catholic to the pride others have for being gay and told gay people that their pride is a deadly sin while his pride is a glorification of god. That’s pretty offensive to the LGBTQ people at Benedictine University and around the world. Again his has the right to those beliefs because of his catholic faith. But then he moves on to politics and claims that diversity, equity and inclusion are in some way counter to his faith and contravention of his truth. This makes it seem like diversity, equity, and inclusion are bad ideas or something to be suppressed instead of celebrated. I agree with you that Butker had an emphasis on a strong family unit. But his definition of family and what roles men and women should play was very narrow and if one doesn’t fit that definition because they are a career woman or because they are gay or because they don’t subscribe to his belief about faith or god then they are not fulfilling their role has a wife and homemaker or husband and provider. I thought his speech was very exclusionary and it was not inspiring for many people in that audience that were graduating and I think that Benedictine should have to answer to those graduates that had to listen to that at their commencement. If I were a high school student considering what college to go to or if I were a parent advising my child what university they should attend I would not recommend Benedictine because the University support of this speech tells me that it does not comport with my values and I don’t think I’m the only one that feels that way.

Who’s silencing anyone? You can say whatever you want on any platform. Big conservative media is widely available on RU-vid that says the exact same points that he does.
While I acknowledge and respect his right to express his religious beliefs, I find it concerning that some Christians appear to prioritize the issue of abortion above all other aspects of their faith. This narrow focus seems to overlook the broader teachings and principles of Christianity.
